BRITAIN TODAY
An elderly widow is a neighbour of mine
and she scours the charity shops for sleeping bags which she gives to rough sleepers.
I was walking the same route as her to the shops so we got into conversation
and she said if you lose the place where you live, you canot get social security money
so you have to rely on begging.
I stopped and waited while she gave a sleeping bag to a man who had been sleeping in undergrowth in the park, this man who said he was an ex soldier broke down at the gift and wept, he said he begged for 2 days to get enough for a cup of coffee
and the staff in Starbucks said to him, “we do not serve your type in here, go away have a bath and a shave wash your clothes then come back, ”
He hung his head and quietly walked out, he was called back by a lady in the queue who bought him a coffee and a bun, he was too choked up to thank her properly
but felt so grateful.
The British public are very unforgiving, the huge marches in every town and city in the UK where it was estimated a quarter of the country turned out to march against Tony Blair’s war on the people of Iraq, was responsible for many soldiers to have the courage to say ” no we wont go”
but for those men who lacked the courage to say no,
surely the time has come now to forgive these men their war crimes ?
The old lady who gives out the sleeping bags said, for many of these ex soldiers
the only help for them is from Hells Angel types, one black guy from Liverpool said
the only thing they asked him when he slept rough was, ” can you ride a bike and
and can you party ? welcome brother.
A very sad state of affairs, for those who took part in Tonys war.

Money, swords, bullets and armour are made of metal, and we began turning into this long ago. What Hugo mocks about this transition is really true. It comes from rivalries. Strong religion might prevent it but did not. Soldiers also volunteer for genetic improvement, according to James Casbolt and some Americans. They like the idea of being Superman.

‘No fixed abode’ social security payments have always possible. Where I live, drug addicts and vagrants have a support network of gullible, do-gooding old women who give them money and other stuff. They are part of the problem.
