Peter Hitchens – Daily Mail June 20, 2021
The most bitterly funny story of the week is that a defector from North Korea thinks that even her homeland is ‘not as nuts’ as the indoctrination now forced on Western students.
Yeonmi Park fled from the Hermit Kingdom when she was just 13, and endured horrible things during her escape. Eventually, she reached South Korea. But she thought she had truly begun a new life when, in 2016, she transferred to Columbia University in New York City, one of America’s finest colleges.
Almost immediately she met the new, sweet and sticky marshmallow totalitarianism which has taken over so many Western seats of learning. A staff member ticked her off when she revealed that she enjoyed classics such as the books of Jane Austen.
‘I said, “I love those books.” I thought it was a good thing,’ she told Fox News in an interview. But the staff member replied: ‘Did you know those writers had a colonial mindset? They were racists and bigots and are subconsciously brainwashing you.’
After encountering the new requirement for the use of gender-neutral pronouns, she concluded ‘Even North Korea is not this nuts… North Korea was pretty crazy, but not this crazy.’
She came to fear that making a fuss would affect her grades and her degree. Eventually, she learned to keep quiet, as people do when they try to live under intolerant regimes, and let the drivel wash over her.
Anyone who has lived through the past two years in this country, especially the takeover of the National Trust by radicals, and the increasingly politically correct behaviour of major universities, will know that her account has the ring of truth.
But what is important is that a survivor of North Korean terror is saying it. She is not claiming that the modern West is like the thuggish Kim regime.
She is saying that we willingly give in to what has to be forced on to Koreans by police terror, sealed borders and labour camps. And we ought to be ashamed of ourselves.
As Ms Park says, at least North Koreans, who live under a regime of brainwashed fear and who are forcibly isolated from all news of the outside world, have an excuse for believing the mad bilge pumped out by their government. We don’t.
‘North Koreans, we don’t have the internet, we don’t have access to any of these great thinkers, we don’t know anything. But here, while having everything, people choose to be brainwashed. And they deny it.’
She warns: ‘You guys have lost common sense to a degree that I as a North Korean cannot even comprehend.’
You may think she is laying it on a bit thick. But I don’t. One of the strangest periods of my life came nearly three decades ago. I had returned to this country after several years living abroad, including more than two years in Moscow. When I had left England, in summer 1990, we had been almost euphoric about the accelerating fall of Communism in Europe.
I had expected to settle back into my own country with relief. But again and again, in my first few weeks back in Britain, I experienced behaviour, events or conversations which gave me an eerie feeling of familiarity.
For some time, I could not work out what it was. And then, suddenly, it became clear. I was reminded of the stupidities, prejudices, obstructions and dogmas which I had experienced in Soviet Moscow – and seen defeated there.
Somehow, they had escaped through the gaps in the Berlin Wall and taken up residence here. Bit by bit, especially after the Blair victory of 1997, they hardened into a whole new political system, hostile to the traditional married family, scornful of tradition and patriotism, filled with hate for Christianity, dismissive towards the books, art and music that I liked, actively intolerant of dissent.
I had not come back to Britain but to somewhere else. I have not been able to find my way back to Britain since then, and do not know how to get there.

Peter Hitchens took the deathjab, just so he can travel. After learning this, I no longer care what he writes.
we were told to rjoice the fall of communism
but it did not collapse we have as many ex soviet bloc personel in the UK as our own folk
We did not win the sold war
communism won just as rothschild said it would back in the 30s
all wealth will be shared out, but not them
not the elite they will not shd one penny
that is the basis of comunism
“We’re being brainwashed”. No Peter, the sheeple are not being brainwashed, they’ve been brainwashed. Think about a new born (lamb). The sheeple parents are brain dead, they believe the fake news, even if they only get a fleeting glimpse of the lies and all the thicko sheeple around them repeat these lies and when the poor liitle lamb goes to school, they are totally lost & most, they are brain dead to the truth or at least the ability to inquire as to what the truth is. Truth is a quest that is seldom achieved. But this quest is the only path and I believe that one should make assumptions based on your anylitical instincts, because we live in a highly secretive world. We simply don’t have the time to wait for some official disclosure, and even then it is unlikely to be reliable.
Top tip, abandon your prejudices. That means your classic left/right bias, abandon your religious convictions and be willing and frank when correcting thicko sheeple. I get these thicko sheeple (thicko by their own choice) telling me xyz utterance from the fake news and I just tell them straight. I even make a point of telling them that their masks don’t work.
In the past I couldn’t be bothered, but the gulability is so bad that I just call it out. They say they’ve had a vaccine, I tell them to their sheeple face that they’ve not had a vaccine.
Basically, perhaps there or no Asians, unlike, for example, Hispanics, they don’t share a common language or religion, they have significantly different cultures and historic difficulties among some of the countries.
However, people called Asians might be the only glimmer of hope to stop Critical Race Theory (rooted in Marxism) in America. Realistically, not much of a chance against the New World Order gang.
In general, Asians know the absurdity of Critical Race Theory (CRT), they know Marxism crushes a society and they don’t have White guilt (Blacks in America) and in general they have a sense of fairness and they don’t want to leech off of society. They just want fair treatment in America.
Typically, Asians fit in with White European culture and norms in America.
Unfortunately, a high percentage of Asians in America are concerned if they speak out on CRT and Marxism they’ll get branded as “whitened” Asian Americans, thus despised and kicked out of the “people of color” crowd.
A high percentage of Asians fit much better in the Republican party than the Democrat party, however, they don’t join the Republican party (a little over 90 percent White) because the don’t want the association with the supposed White supremacists, but they know the branding of Whites isn’t accurate.
From the Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater New York (CACAGNY):
One way or another, CRT wants to get rid of too many Asians in good schools. Asians are
over-represented. CRT is today’s Chinese Exclusion Act. CRT is the real hate crime against
Asians.

“We’re being brainwashed”, says Peter Hitchens, a man who used to brainwash us until he recently realised he was to be brainwashed, too – just a little later than us, after his own job was done, by other reactionaries as detrimental to his well-being as he was to ours.
This is the new world he used to say only existed in the warped minds of conspiracy theorists. I think that’s how he put it.
Sebastien I was going to post that…lol agree with you 100%.
PRINCESS of consciousness out of the territory of 70years
dictatorial political brainpiss . you give hope that nanochiped
zombirobots of coming jew world government will find ways
to their innermost core of ability to diference lies from truth .
The Frankfurter School brought all this to America in the 1930s but have only increased their influence in the universities. Nothing was done about them. It is the Jewish weakening process working on the White or otherwise non-Yid countries.
Agree with Seb and Chris…Who gives a f*** about Hitchens.
Flees communist North Korea and by 2016 has a ‘new life’ in New Yawk City with its exorbitant rents and tuition. And she can afford makeup, stylish clothes, and little knick-knacks in her apartment? Really…?
Carl Jones is no doubt totally correct about the people being brain dead from brainwashing, but he goes on to tell people to abandon their religious convictions, which in my view appears to be right from the Humanist Manifestos I and II. Humanists seem to think that they can have a world with freedom, the integrity of the individual, and fundamental rights, and that people will be “ethical” through science and learning, but also by excluding all manner of religion and the supernatural from their lives.
The humanist religion is based on scientific verifiability, evolution, and life without God, and that is the regime our civilization has been living under and brainwashed with for the past 100 years. Humanist notions of right and wrong are Kosher in the public square, but we all known that Christians and their views had better keep out. That was and remains the secular view. Even before abandoning the decency codes governing the entertainment industry in the 1960’s, its underlying creed was essentially “life without God in the 20th Century.” The Jewish owners welcomed the neutrality to their Christian nemesis, and propagated the humanist creed in its place.
When I read the Humanist Manifestos all I can see is complete absurdity. For instance, people like Carl Jones and Yukon Jack have these deep and passionate notions of right and wrong, and how evil those in authority are with all of their abuses of power. There is nothing absurd in that. Their core values are sufficiently agitated to be motivated even to make sacrifices to change things. However, they project the idea that they do not need God, a higher power, and a supernatural faith to do that. But where do their core values come from? Do they come from the very State which has brainwashed them and which they condemn? Or perhaps certain principles of a religious or supernatural source was at some time instilled in them to go against the lies and oppression of the State?
It is great to spout off about the integrity of the individual person and the inviolability of certain basic rights. However, unless we are connected to something more eternal why should anything really matter? If we are all destined to die why should anything matter but getting as much of the good things in life for your enjoyment as possible? And what is so special about any particular individual person? From a more collective or State point of view is not one person just a reasonable facsimile of any other, unless, that is, they are to be favored by someone.
What is it in the humanist creed which actually sustains and promotes the integrity of the individual person and makes all of the abuses of power and trust we see so prevalent today so evil in their eyes? Nothing! Absolutely noting! There is nothing in their creed but empty platitudes. In fact, the integrity of the internal volition of other people means nothing to them unless it is a power exercised over them, and that is why they tend to be so fond of manipulation, socialism, or cast a blind eye to the corruption everywhere. Their creed entails no ultimate purpose or consequence to their thoughts and deeds, or those of anyone else, and the result has been that they become amoral, and they create amoral and oppressive systems when they are given any power. They have no problem with the pragmatism of the day running our nations and our lives, where the ends justify the means and any deception and abuse of power is justified according to the vision they adopt. In fact, it is by the prevalence of such pragmatic means that we can now observe that all of our governments are essentially run by humanists. It is by their pragmatism and not through merit, that they have gained their power over us. With the humanist exclusion of those with religious convictions from all positions of power and influence, they are entirely responsible for the present mess and state of affairs, where there is no truth or reliability in anything except the coercive power of the government.
Those who wish to eradicate religious convictions usually do so because their own lives are not compatible with those convictions, and it usually has something to do with either a belief or a moral teaching too difficult for them. They cannot cite Christian hypocrisy as the underlying justification for their rejection because that implies knowledge of the higher standards which the hypocrites are ignoring. If they site one bad nun to justify their condemnation, then they ignore the many good ones. If they say that no one lives up to the standards then they ignore the purpose of the convictions as the source of trying to be better.
In fact, it is the humanist creed which is the major hypocrisy of our time. They are completely running things now and all we see is the trampling of all our fundamental human rights and freedoms based on the pretext of the Covid pandemic, of which the entire planning speaks volumes about their dishonesty, fear mongering, and pragmatism, as well as their totalitarian ends, where one’s rights ultimately will depend on their compliance to State diktats and one’s usefulness.
People whose minds are welded to the natural physical and visible order remain limited to the pragmatism of that order, which is very much a might makes right order and not one of the silver or the golden rule. Without an internal faith which goes beyond and sees behind that order, which is not just an external or impersonal scientific seeking, there is no real power in our lives really to lift ourselves up from any mire or evil. If people have strong feelings about injustice and the abuses of basic human rights, the source of that strength and the power to overcome those evils is simply not to be found in the humanist creed.
However, any old religious convictions will not do. We must seek the truth in everything. We must look for the true nature of God in our lives and that process requires both an internal and an external process. As there are true notions of God, their are false ones, and so, as there are true religious convictions and there are also false ones. The humanist convictions are clearly false ones.
I do laugh at Peter Hitchens who started off as a Trotskyite, became a conservative capitalist and grew old to see Marxism taking over western society.
Hitchens is like all the ‘old’ right in the msm, ignored by most of the 50 and under generations, allowed to speak on Question Time, just so the BBC is seen to partake in the left-right paradigm (that no longer exists, well in the msm, politics and academia). But no one listens to him.
His life, in the msm, allowing him is Daily Mail columns and book publishing deals, keeps him in a very comfortable existence which he doesn’t want to lose. In every one of Hitchens’ articles, he’ll tell us what’s happening, but NEVER offer any type of solution as fix those problems. This is one of the conditions, he obeys, that allows him his lucrative lifestyle.
The question is, did he actually take the ‘stupid-jab’, or a saline solution/retractable needle version?
I’ve read some of his books and used to read his columns, when I read the media, some 11 years ago now and I always wondered if he knew what was really going on, but played ignorant. If he did, actually, take the stupid-jab, then one can only conclude, that as much as he thinks he knows, it’s certainly not enough.
Let’s face reality folks; the new world order is here, simply, because the old world order didn’t do enough to stop it coming in.
But the staff member replied: ‘Did you know those writers had a colonial mindset? They were racists and bigots and are subconsciously brainwashing you.’
I don’t see the problem with the TRUTH!
England has thousands of foreign Moslem COLONIES. “Colonialism’s good when we do it”. (Sometimes a PJW catch-phrase is useful).
We all know Hitchens is privileged middle class. I never read a word he said in times BC, before covid, but I did see his columns in the alternative media per covid. I think he offered a stepping stone to seeing outside the brainwashing, a little light through the curtains and encouragement to peep outside. Too much blinding unpleasant truth at once will only cause people to run for cover and hide. Joe Normal is not going to listen to rabid conspiracy theorists screaming insults at him. The millions have to be woken up for us to have any chance of derailing the juggernaut hell bent on destroying free life. Give them a chance.
Fred b: I think I said religious convictions. This doesn’t question God or spirituality. Shopping is the new religion… get the idea.
Fred b: I think you miss my point. I don’t expect human perfection and integrity. What I do expect is that sheeple should question what they are told. If the sheeple truly had access to power, & I include presstitutes, these lying parasites would have balances and checks. I am not deluded, the top sheeple are evil, but they are evil because they can get away with it. RONALDO removes two toxic bottles of sugar from his press conference table and wipes $4 billion off the value of that evil company. That is a balance and check. Everyone can do this in their own way, but they don’t do it at all. We’re in a one party state, so very easy, just don’t vote, call them out. The recent by-election win for the Liberals, much better to not vote and ridicule the sham system. Just imagine a UK general election with a 10% turn out? Call in the army, invite 10, 000 Chinese English speaking police and judges. Journalist gets axe in head put there by a policeman… defund the police.
Peter Hitchens, a man who chose to surrender all credibilility to tourism; a man for whom freedom is a measure of being able to visit relatives abroad. His voice is worthless. Genuinely, worthless.
Perhaps he and Jordan Peterson should accompany each other on a jaunt across Europe to witness the obliteration that they would encourage.
Peter Hitchens – a truely despicable human being.
Jordan Peterson – your calumny will be remembered by alll among the truthful that you insincerely pretend to encourage.
@ Carl Jones
I appreciate your comments, except you opened the door for me to take a shot at the secular humanists with your comment which like Yukon Jack derided “religious convictions”. About being sheeple, perhaps we are all sheeple to beliefs, ideas and visions of others, and I know from my own work how tedious it is to get to the truth of anything with strong interests at work. In fact, we all seem to be limited in just how far we can go for reliability in our methods to discern the truth when there is really no such thing as pure objectivity and complete disinterestedness. That is why philosophically I can say I am a theist, but that is not the basis for my beliefs which are more dependent on personal experiences in my life, and are also more pragmatic. I doubt that respect to right vrs. wrong and the search for the truth over the Covid scam, I would be any different than the sheeple you mention if I did not have my religious convictions. However, what has astounded me and where I have to agreed with you in your frustration is that the pace of people waking up to even want to look for the truth as to what is going on with religious people.
A person more active than me on the issue and who has a great deal more zeal than I do, found that he could get people to flip on the issue to consider the evidence and wake up, if he could get them to depart from listening to, reading or watching the mainstream media for a few weeks, which I have for most of my life now considered to be the main weapon of our corrupt governments. What I am most concerned about is that so many in my church who have influence being brainwashed and on the wrong side of the fence, and I share the views that like our secular governments the government of my church has been corrupted by the same poison, and that is why if any leading prelates are actually on the side of “the truth” and can be flipped, many of the sheeple who are asleep will wake up.
Fred B: Thank you for your reply. The problem with many in organised religions is that they are looking for something, be that a cruth, or answers to their own existence. So many accept what is told to them in church and by other parishioners. Pulpit rhetoric is often based on constructed event and comment from corrupt politicians and presstitutes.
The worst sheeple are the highly educated who are welded to the system and the classic religious believers. For the most part, these sheeple support the deep state and this permeates down through society. Sheeple want easy explanations and solutions. A bit like Icke’s problem, reaction and solution, but the solution was in their minds before the problem.
