Netanyahu appearing before the UN General Assembly in 2012 to warn of the threat posed by Iran. Since then we’ve seen no hard evidence of Iran’s nuclear weapons drive, although we’ve heard plenty more allegations.
Literally for decades Israeli officials warned that Iran was only a few steps away from acquiring a nuclear weapon. In fact, in 1992 Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset that Iran was only “3 to 5 years” from acquiring nuclear weapons.
That was nearly thirty ago and we are still waiting.
However, that hasn’t stopped U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken from making similar claims recently. Days ago he warned that Iran’s “nuclear program is galloping forward”. Like Netanyahu before him, Blinken didn’t cite any hard facts to support this claim but it may mark an ominous new turn.
For months now relations between the West and Iran have been quiet if somewhat tense but Blinken’s remarks may signal a change. We could soon see mounting tensions, similar to the period during the Bush administration when the use of “all options”, i.e. military force, was a frequently implied threat.
Those tensions have since eased but Blinken’s remarks may mean that the prospect of military conflict with Iran could soon return. Ed.
Iran nuclear ‘breakout time’ could be weeks if not restrained -Blinken

The United States still does not know whether Iran is ready to resume compliance with its 2015 nuclear deal and if Tehran continues to violate the pact, the “breakout time” it needs to amass enough fissile material for a single nuclear weapon will shrink to weeks, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday.
“It remains unclear whether Iran is willing and prepared to do what it needs to do come back into compliance,” Blinken told lawmakers. “Meanwhile, its program is galloping forward. … The longer this goes on, the more the breakout time gets down … it’s now down, by public reports, to a few months at best. And if this continues, it will get down to a matter of weeks.”
The United States and Iran began indirect talks in Vienna in April to see if both sides might agree to resume compliance with the 2015 accord under which Tehran agreed to restrain its nuclear program to make it harder to obtain fissile material for a weapon in return for relief from U.S., EU and U.N. sanctions.
The fifth round of talks ended on June 2 and diplomats have said a sixth may begin on Thursday, though that was not set in stone. The United States abandoned the agreement in 2018, prompting Iran to begin violating its terms about a year later. read more
Resuming talks on Thursday would leave only eight days to reach a pact before Iran’s June 18 election, which is likely to usher in a hard line president. Some delegates say that while a deal is possible by then, it appears increasingly unlikely.

Nukes are overrated. Consider nuclear armed Pakistan, there have been over ~350 US drone strikes in Pakistan and many more in the neighboring Afghanistan often hitting wedding parties, funeral gatherings and farmers causing great collateral damage and civilian deaths. The Pakistanis burn wooden and paper drones in protest. Pakistan’s nukes are of no use, they are there just to balance against India’s nukes. In contrast Iran has no nukes but has the most unique and impressive shoot down, hack and capture of the best drones in the world you name them. Not even Russia or China have such a portfolio. To take any action against an enemy one has to have the power and the will. Clearly Iran has both… so either Iranians are reckless or are assured of deterrence. Having advanced in every field imaginable, Iran has complete nuclear fuel cycle technology and many believe should Iran feel the need to build nukes, they can do so in a relatively short time, but we assume that’s not the case; regardless maintaining and securing nuclear weapons are costly and provide very limited gains. Iran has sure-strike missiles that can destroy dimona nuclear plant in the unlikely event when the need be.
So to understand Iran’s deterrence, I’ll quickly explain the Deterrence Doctrine in Game Theory and explain the significance of Cybernetics Era:
In deterrence doctrine there are 4 main issues.
1- Balance of terror: To be able to scare your enemy!
2- Flexible response: In case of an enemy action, having the ability to choose from a large list of different responses.
3- Big Retaliation: Being able to respond to an enemy action with a bigger counter-action.
4- Total war: Being able to drag the situation or escalate to total war or even world war.
Iran achieved capability in these 4, years ago! and that is why it has not been attacked like others. So Iran is very scary in the eyes of its enemies in various ways. It has the ability to respond very flexibly and thus able to greatly surprise its enemy. Can retaliate with a bigger response against every enemy action. Can easily expand/escalate the conflict to total war or even world war. Here are some examples:
1- In Tanker Wars, US sent multiple ships to escort Kuwaiti massive Oil Tanker named AlRikha which was going to take Iraqi oil. US named it Bridgeton and put US flag on it. All news channels were reporting that the Superpower is securing Persian Gulf and global trade routs, and Iran can’t do a damn thing. Long story short Bridgeton sank and the whole world saw it!
2- Iran captured US seals (sailors) and UK marines in Persian Gulf. The liberal governments in Iran at the times pushed for their quick release. But US didn’t do anything in particular.
3- Shooting down Global Hawk in very high altitude, Trump thanked Iran for not hitting the accompanying manned spy plane. Iran also collected the remains.
4- Capturing RQ-170, Obama asked for it back!
5- Assassination of Qasem Suleimani, Iran retaliates with missile strikes on US base Eye of Lion. This was the first time after Pearl Harbor that a US base was attacked like this. Trump had threatened to hit some ~50 targets including cultural ones! Regardless of interpretation of outcome we can at least agree that the world saw this take place!
6- UK on behalf of US captures Iran oil tanker in Gibraltar, Iran captures UK tanker in a similar fashion. They release Iran tanker first and a few days later Iran released the UK tanker!
7- Iran has suffered multiple assassinations and sabotage that has responded effectively to some of them. “Astray missile” landing close to dimona – Missile Factory in Zionist occupied lands goes up in massive mushroom cloud, Israel’s top missile scientist burns in a Molotov-Cocktail attack on a hotel with many key figures meeting there! USS Bonehomme incident, etc… Israel’s assassinations make great material for Hollywood movies, Molotov attack not very much!
8- Iran sent 5 …and regularly sends cargo and tanker ships to Venezuela in US backyard and US has not done anything. Venezuela has managed to survive US economic and political war.
9- Iran’s support of Yemen and Hamas, and it’s other allies.
These show some of Iran’s responses or preemptive actions against US and Zionists interests.
In Cybernetics era, only 1-Energy and 2-Information/Data/Intelligence matter, so the five traditional sources of a countries power (Economic, Scientific, Military, Cultural, Political) no longer apply independently! Weapons that matter are Sure-strike conventional missiles, Drones, Satellite, Internet, Electronic warfare, etc… Iran’s IRGC has considered this and so it has advanced in all of these areas. We can see that classic weapons are becoming things of the past, massive air-craft carriers and fighter jets are the two key ones with later becoming obsolete as better drones can even attack air targets. So even though nuclear energy is extremely important, nuclear weapons are overrated, this era is all about precision measured attacks not MAD weapons!
US defines itself as the brain of the world and naturally the heartland is unanimously agreed by world strategists that has shifted to Iran and will remain so for at least two more decades. So Iran has significant control over global energy. These all translated into Iran’s deterrence, we have not even touched Iran’s soft-power in the region.
Why should Iran sink an atomic sub in the Persian Gulf and ruin the environment!? Why should Iran hit dimona and harm its allies too? With sure-strike missiles there will be the least collateral damage, needed warhead can be adjusted just to be enough. There will be no global outrage and condemnation and missiles hit exactly where it hurts.
