Thousands of England fans BOOED team for taking knee before Euro 2020 warm-up with Austria leaving BBC pundits stunned – as supporters fume over ‘politicising’ of beautiful game

Thousands of England fans booed the players as they took the knee last night before their match against Austria, leaving BBC pundits stunned amid growing supporter discontent at the gesture.
After renditions of ‘Football’s Coming Home’ and the national anthems, there were audible jeers as the players took the knee at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium – the first time an England side have done so in front of a home crowd.
The boos were so loud that BBC Radio 5 Live commentator John Murray was left stunned, telling listeners: ‘Wow that was quite a reaction. There was a lot of booing there. I’m quite taken aback by how loud that was.’
The stadium welcomed 8,000 fans for the match against Austria, with TV images suggesting a significant portion of several thousand were behind the booing.
Despite cheers drowning out the boos soon after, the episode reflects growing anger among supporters who see the gesture as ‘political’.
England manager Gareth Southgate and TV host Piers Morgan led condemnation of the booing, but other supporters rallied to defend the fans on Twitter.
One fan wrote: ‘It’s nothing about the colour of anybody’s skin. You don’t have to get on your knees to be against racism. It’s about time footballers stopped getting on their knees for a political movement.’
Another added: ‘The boos are not in support of racism, but in the act of taking the knee, which has become a political statement. Political statements have no place in sport.’
While a third said: ‘Unfortunately taking the knee, whether it means so or not, is now associated by many with a political movement who run petitions off their websites calling for #DefundThePolice and educational movements which do not sit well with a large proportion of the population.’

I don’t know about Great Britain but when normal people in the USA ask supporters of the absurd systemic racism canard for some specific examples of current systemic racism (not from the early 1900s), they can’t come up with anything.

This is good. It challenges the power of the conditioned reflex not to be racist. Any farmer knows how quickly he can lose control of his flock of sheep. Sometimes it only takes a few sheep to go astray and the whole flock goes the same way and the sheep dogs have lost control. The more the farmer panics the faster the sheep run.
Soccer is in decline since stadiums closed. Unless they do something drastic, folks have lost interest in the game, especially when they hear the salaries these ball kickers get. All nationalities and religions have been imported to the UK by succeeding governments since WW2. If the plan is to destroy our culture, so be it. But to beat any dastardly plan, the answer is to embrace all people! Say no to divide and rule. Taking the knee is a nonsense, and most black people would agree with that. Southgate would lose his job if he didn’t support it. I don’t think I’ve seen him go out on to the pitch and join the team in the practice?
If you notice, the few white gentile players on all these teams are all Roman Catholics. The main trend you now see is the appearance of mulattoes with English surnames, many of them hyphenated for some reason. There is no England. You cannot be black and play for an English football team, because the Angles, Saxons, Celts and all other European peoples WERE never black. What a load of hogwash. Common sense prevails to suggest that the colour brown, come from the mixing of blue and another colour. You cannot make light colours from darker ones. Stopped watching (American) football for this very reason. in fact, will not support any sport that begins with a stupid political stunt like this, it may take some time, but eventually ALL people will see it as a stunt, and will tire of financial rape.
When football was played only by White men the pay was appropriate and the players had to do real jobs in the week. The millions and billions of pounds are meant for the monkey men.
