A school secretly reported its chaplain to the anti-terrorism Prevent programme after he delivered a sermon defending the right of pupils to question its introduction of new LGBT policies.
The Reverend Dr Bernard Randall told pupils at independent Trent College near Nottingham that they were allowed to disagree with the measures, particularly if they felt they ran contrary to Church of England principles.
Among them was a plan to ‘develop a whole school LGBT+ inclusive curriculum’.
Having decided that Dr Randall’s sermon was ‘harmful to LGBT’ students, the school flagged him to Prevent, which normally identifies those at risk of radicalisation.
Police investigated the tip-off but advised the school by email that Dr Randall, 48, posed ‘no counter terrorism risk, or risk of radicalisation’.
Derbyshire Police confirmed that the case ‘did not meet the threshold for a Prevent referral’
But in a disturbing development, Dr Randall, a former Cambridge University chaplain and Oxford graduate, claims that the school later told him that any future sermons would be censored in advance.
He also claims that he was warned his chapel services would be monitored ‘to ensure that… requirements are met’. Dr Randall was later dismissed. He is suing for discrimination, harassment, victimisation and unfair dismissal and his case is due to be heard next month. ‘My career and life are in tatters,’ he said.
Campaigners said the case was one of the most extraordinary of its kind and raised disturbing questions about freedom of speech. Former Education Minister Sir John Hayes said, if the claims are proved, the school had ‘behaved appallingly’.
Dr Randall’s sermon, delivered in the school chapel on June 21, 2019, was prompted, he says, by concerns from pupils about an organisation called Educate & Celebrate, run by Dr Elly Barnes, which was invited to ‘embed gender, gender identity and sexual orientation into the fabric’ of the school.
In it, he said: ‘You should no more be told you have to accept LGBT ideology, than you should be told you must be in favour of Brexit, or must be Muslim.’ But he stressed the ‘need to treat each other with respect’. Several days later, he will tell the tribunal, he was called to a meeting and told the sermon was inflammatory, divisive and ‘harmful to LGBT pupils’.
Dr Randall only learned about the Prevent referral because it was mentioned in documents given to him ahead of a disciplinary hearing. ‘I had visions of being investigated by MI5, of men knocking down the front door,’ he said.
Trent College has a ‘Christian ethos’ and Dr Randall was appointed in 2015 to provide pastoral care, share the Christian faith and lead services in the school’s chapel.
But he claims he found himself increasingly sidelined as the school began implementing the Educate & Celebrate programme.
The MoS can also reveal that in legal proceedings against the school it will be claimed:
- Teachers were urged to chant ‘Smash heteronormativity’ during a training session;
- Dr Randall was excluded from discussions about the programme when he said some of its beliefs were contrary to Christian values;
- Educate & Celebrate demands schools adopt a gender neutral uniform policy and believe children should not refer to each other as ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ to avoid offending transgender pupils;
- Dr Randall was reported to the local authority designated officer, apparently because the school felt he might be a risk to children.
Toby Young, of the Free Speech Union, said: ‘This is a fantastic sermon, reminding us no one has a monopoly on moral truth. For Bernard Randall to lose his job as a result of this sermon is scandalous.
‘What’s so depressing about his treatment is the message it sends to the pupils. The central theme of his sermon is that children shouldn’t be afraid to think for themselves. But the message the school has sent is the opposite. Schools should be teaching children how to think, not what to think.’
Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, which is supporting Dr Randall, said: ‘Who are the extremists in this story? The partisan agency who teach young children that they can be born in the wrong body, or the school chaplain moderately presenting what the Christian church has taught about marriage, sex and gender for the past 2,000 years?’
The College declined to comment.

In the end there could be a backlash against this because it belongs in the bedroom in private. The chances are the backlash could start in those toilets which allow biological men into women’s toilets. This concept is a social abomination and many men who would use them I suspect are toilet deviants who like to be around women doing their necessaries, just as some men in prison who claim the right to serve their time in a woman’s prison have done so to get near women.
An outrageous story. Sigh.
I wonder how many LGBTQ young people are actually heterosexuals; a male boy admires the muscles on another male for a fraction of a second but due to the current LGBTQ environment (celebrate the lifestyle) he quickly realizes he must be an LGBTQ person.
When I was growing up if a girl acted a bit like a boy (especially played sports), played with the boys, climbed trees, threw rocks, intentionally burped we call her a “Tom Boy”. Typically, she got married to a man, had heterosexual sex and kids and provided some charming stories of her youth as a Tom Boy.
Nobody talked hormone treatment and sex reassignment surgery.
Schools have always been government tools. They don’t teach you to think, they teach you to do what you are told by arrogant authoritarians. As for teaching, as in most professions, you only get to the top by not thinking for yourself, but by kissing the bosses arse and not questioning authority. You would have to be delusional to believe that they will then rock the boat.
officially allowed opinions don’t say these things, but it is how it works.
Monotheists only have themselves to blame for this; they object to having more than one God, or more than one crop in a field or fabric in cloth, while the other side object to having more than one sex, or Race, because of this old monomania. There are two Gods, and their Satan shows they vaguely knew they needed one.
Any parent wanting their kids to have well-adjusted happy lives, free of all of the establishment LGBTBS brainwashing them to copulate but not populate, would want the teachers not just to do the impotent Anglican thing saying, “it is OK to question LGBT teaching”, but to teach them that it is wrong and why it is wrong.
God specifically made two people His image, one male and the other female. Why? God wanted them to give birth to a population like themselves. This population would be made equal to the angels and replace the angels that had left God to go with Lucifer/Satan.
So it is clear that birth, male and female were characteristics that were a part of life on this planet.
Why didn’t God just make a whole lot of angels straight away instead of this very long process via sexual reproduction?
Lucifer had told a lot of lies in his efforts to overthrow God and to exult himself. God designed the male/female and mother/child relationships to give an overview to the universe of how He manages the universe, like a father and mother in one with His children the intelligent inhabitants of the universe.
Children play role games to represent the life of grown-ups. I can remember kids in a backyard playing shopping with a girl at the ‘cash register’ and the ‘customers’ lining up to buy something. Adam and Eve were role playing God and creation. Adam represented God in the family situation and Eve represented God to her children. Neither Adam and Eve were actually gods, they just role played the role of God in their lives. This means being loving, caring, helping etc.
Satan hated this. He wanted to be God. This was impossible because he was a limited created person while God was infinite, eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful and very patient.
So Satan set about to destroy these relationships. He made it out that all can become gods so he wanted to get rid of the distinction between God and creature, which means there could be no distinction between male and female. The LGBTQ Gender ID movement is Satan’s tool to destroy the both the male and female roles. Ultimately, Satan wants to destroy the human race, since they were originally made in the image of God. This is all pointless and insane, but that is the situation we are in right now, as female athletes are finding out now.
It’s all so improbable. That an agency of perversion should have been given leave to persuade school children of the merits of irreversible and dangerous, sexually-inverting, surgical interventions, is inconceivably wicked.
Indoctrinating little children into accepting the legitimacy of such an extreme of sexual deviancy as transsexualism, is simply unconscionable. This is grooming and child abuse. Just imagine it – an unabashed sex-cult actively promoting physical disfigurement of little children’s bodies as positive intervention, to placate the stresses of growing up and advocating for the pharmaceutical sabotage of pre-pubescent’s hormonal functionalism – in schools! It’s among the worst crimes conceivable – yet – it’s not being engaged surreptitiously, with any fearfulness of being caught by its perpetrators. On the contrary, it is, for all the world, a protected practice, sponsored by Carpocration sickos,imperious with financial power. We know who they are. It’s the Jews and their Freemasonic cohorts and other similarly bedevilled satellite lickspittles.
Children shouldn’t even know about such existentially confrontational and squamish marginal interests as penis amputations or cosmetic mastectomy procedures for teenage girls. That children should be actively tuitioned in the health benefits of arresting puberty when the tremorous spectre of burgeoning adulthood looms – is so far beyond any acceptable consensual boundary availed to my heart, that it’s impossible for me to conceive of how such flagrant exploitation of innocence ever became viable. How did stealth predators come to infiltrate our primary and secondary schools so successfully and so quickly? Were we not taught about wolves?
How can it be that tolerance for transsexualism has become the totem to measure goodness by? Shall we next offer up serial killers on flash cards as instructive role-modelling – murderers who serve as worthy exemplars, dedicated professionals, who despite the gruesomeness of their vocation, nonetheless, succeded in achieving standards of proficiency that young folk should seek to emulate?
How did it ever come to be – that so many teachers have so breezily capitulated to this perverse gangsterism and permitted this ever-incrementing, authoritatively approved, sexual abuse of minors?
The ulterior-purposed and malevolent educational charity, those who supposedly instruct in professional leadership standards and attributes, by name, Common Purpose, must be singled out for their subversion in advancing the sinister despoilation of our educational and other civic institutions. Common Purpose, is a quite typical bolshevist bureaucratic apparatus, inserted into and insinuating itself into positions of administrative control, while planning an intellectual encirclement. Brian Gerrish has been trying to warn us all about ideological training-days and N.L.P. mesmerism in the work-place for years now.
There’s absolutely nothing in the featured chaplain’s address which could in any way be construed as prejudicial to the thin-skinned, egocentric, gender-garbled demograhic.
I was surprized, in fact, by the depth of philosophic consideration the pastor gave to his subject matter, considering the age of his audience. The kids at that school must be very bright. I hope they remain so. I hope that they and their parents have the courage to defend their chaplain, anything otherwise would be squandering human potential to phantasmagoric agencies.
