I like Brother Nathanael, but he is wearing a Christian cross and lecturing us on how Amerika has a death wish. Does no one see the irony here, he is wearing a symbol of a death cult, a cross. I wrote this essay years ago Death Cult Memes. Our situation is like the fish trying to detect water. We are so immersed in a death cult we don’t even know there is a whole other world we could be living in, a world centered on life, not death.
What the hell am I talking about? We don’t need to be building weapons of war and projecting force all over the world. If we were a life culture we wouldn’t have 1,200 overseas military bases, and we don’t really need them when we have a huge nuclear arsenal. No one outside of us is really a threat, but because we’ve been indoctrinated into Bible thinking, we are always on a crusade to save the world.
Our problem is that we are proactive in the use of force, we think we have a god given right to force other nations to our will. Netanyahu says this daily, how he is not going to allow Iran to get nuclear weapons, when he knows damn well Israel has a huge 3000+ nuclear arsenal. And it is this Israeli threat to the Middle East that drives Iran to do what it must to survive. Death Cult Thinking rules Israel.
I didn’t know I lived inside the world’s biggest death cult until, as a young USAF lieutenant I happened to take leave to Bali, and my eyes were opened. Those Indonesians were not wrapped up in war, they had no plans to invade other parts of the world, they were content just where they were, living life, making offerings to their gods, having daily parades celebrating life. I thought, wow, we have so much military power we could just walk in and take over this place without a shot.
I caught myself in my power projecting thoughts, wow, I am part of a culture that wants to dominate the world. The next day my pregnant wife and I took the tour bus up to the mountain villages, when we got their my wife went shopping and I decided to take a stroll into the woods, having been an avid hunter and trapper back in the states when I was younger, I was anxious to check out the type of trees and game trails in the wild mountains of Bali. Well I was in for a big surprise.
Not 5 minutes into the woods I ran into a large river that had a dozen or so naked woman bathing. I was stunned, they were all naked and laughing and when they saw me they didn’t cover up like women would do in the west, they saw me and invited me to join them! Wow, did I just die and go to heaven I wondered? I was embarassed by the whole thing and diverted my course and decided to follow the river upstream.
Next I ran into a sandstone quarry, the locals were busy cutting sandstone blocks and they young girls would carry them out one at a time, on top of their heads, walking up this incredibly steep trail cut into the solid rock wall, so I followed them because I wanted to know what the hell they were doing.
They were building a stone temple to their gods or god. One by one they were stacking up these stones, and it would take years to construct. Now, as an American I thought how inefficient it was to carry one stone at at time, why don’t they make a lift and use trucks to get the job done. The experience left an indelible impression of cultural differences. We build Holocaust Museums and high tech war machines, always planning and prepping for the next war while in other parts of the world the natives are busy celebrating life.

Jack likes what Nat says but likely not the religion which motivates his courage to point out some wrongs with some of the powerful people of his ethnic tribe. So who is flawed, Jack or Brother Nat? Nat is most concerned about the hedonistic corruption of his nation and the death of the West. However, it is not Christianity which is the cause, it is precisely because most people are now only nominal Christians and know very little about the faith.
Jack goes on to say that Christianity is a death cult, citing wars and his USAF days with sense of superiority or entitlement to dominate the world. Yet, despite the constant failures due to the human element of its adherents, it is the only religion which has really tried to emphasize forgiveness of others and turning the other cheek as exemplified and taught by its founder. As for a death cult, it was Pope John-Paul II who spread the description of Western culture as the culture of death, and it was only by virtue of that guy hanging on the cross that John-Paul was able to make that dire observation and to propagate the message. He was not just referring to the legalization and the dramatically increasing incidence of abortion, suicide, and euthanasia. He was also referring to the crass materialism of the West and its loss of true Christian spirituality which has always in the West until recent generations been a check not only those evils, but also the destruction of the institution of the family.
The culture of death, does not just come from excessive materialism in terms of happiness depending on things, it arises from the sins we commit against God and his goodness. For some reason, in a very real way, we are born separated from our trues selves, with the ability to use only a portion of our potentials. Why is this? My view is that it has to do with some kind of fall in which we either forgot our connection to God or we turned our back on him, and were limited for our own good in the use of such powers. Left to our own devices, we tend to become very destructive. If we had all of the powers for which Bill Gates and Klaus Schwab would like to utilize our minds, we would likely blow the world to smithereens. That is at least my own view, as unorthodox as it may seem to those who are more knowledgeable than I.
However, there is such a thing as sin and that is what leads our souls our of the light of the realm of God, into our present darkness, where it seems the dead are no more and nothing really seems ultimately to matter. Some people, perhaps like Jack, would say that the sin concept is essentially relativistic, and a tool to instill guilt in order to control people. Well, if so you have to know the difference between a life in darkness and one filled with light, before you can really decide.
Yet, from what he has written above, it would seem that Jack has a very high sense of right and wrong, and thinks it is wrong for his nation to bomb and kill innocent people. In his lexicon he would not call such actions a sin, but in them being “wrong” there must be some principle in his thinking outside of just himself making the bombing of civilian objectively wrong for everyone. Natural law, perhaps? Is it wrong because we are killing members of our own species? But people do that all of the time, and few it seems have pangs of conscience. If on the other hand we are really all connected in some way then sooner or later such bad deeds are going to register in one’s psyche.
The Christian concept of sin is very much connected to the idea of death as finality and nothingness. If life is finite, then it ultimately does not matter what we do. “Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die”, as the saying goes. Life with death ruling us does not make every moment infinitely precious. Rather, it makes it ultimately meaningless. You can be Harry Truman and give the final word to drop the bomb on Hiroshima, and it will not really matter in the long run to Harry if there is nothing beyond death.
If there is no continuation of anything beyond this mortal life, nor any real consequence to offending others or your Creator, then you can say there are too many people, so lets get rid of most of them, give the planet a rest, and we the the elite, the best, can continue to eat, drink and be merry in perpetuity. When the fiction of finality is predominate then our lives and our actions are conquered by death and nothing really matters in the final analysis. Without faith none of us would be here.
So you open the bomb bay doors and let the bombs go on women and children, and you are racked by guilt. However, if death is the end, then no great loss. One life is just a facsimile of any other, except for your own loved ones of course, ones, and that attitude is the very heart of the culture of death, where really it is the idea finality which rules your life. The cross is not a sign of a death cult. It is the sign of the conquering of death, which is the conquering of sin and guilt, through forgiveness and love.

Other than at a General Election – an event occurring at five-yearly intervals that hands unconstrained power to a Party that wins a majority – a citizen has but one way of registering dissent at what is done in their name: the right to protest. Yesterday the Government announced its intention to legislate that right out of meaningful existence.
The legislative proposal comes in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill 2021. It grapples with everything from road traffic offences to confected culture war issues like the protection of war memorials and statues. But it also contains provisions that should concern each and every one of us.
Silencing dissent
High-profile protests around Brexit, the racist Black Lives Matter movement, and the climate crisis have been thorns in the Government’s side over the last couple of years. By and large, these protests have been peaceful and have acted as effective ways for people to express their dissatisfaction with the Government.
However, the Home Secretary, in particular, doesn’t seem to like dissenting voices – nor does she want to engage with the root causes of these protests, preferring instead to brand protesters “so-called eco-crusaders turned criminals” and to accuse them of “hooliganism and thuggery”.
The Government’s proposed solution? To clamp down hard on the right to protest. The Bill as it stands would give sweeping new powers to the police to restrict peaceful protests – including by giving them the powers to set conditions on the duration of protests, set maximum noise levels, and put restrictions on where protests can take place. As it seems to us, the very purpose of the right to protest is to enable people to register their profound unhappiness or strength of feeling in a way which compels the State to respond. To legislate so that right cannot have any impact is to legislate it out of meaningful existence.
The disproportionate measures proposed in the Bill also risk undermining the freedom of assembly and association protected under the European Convention on Human Rights and the Human Rights Act.
It should worry us all that the Government has chosen to attack our rights. We want to fully understand the human rights implications of this Bill, and have instructed an experienced QC and junior barrister from Matrix Chambers to provide us with written advice on this.
