Nearly one in three French adults surveyed in July were against getting a coronavirus vaccine, according to new research published Friday in The Lancet Public Health journal.
More than two-thirds would consider its effectiveness and country of origin before deciding to be injected.
The study was conducted by researchers from Bordeaux University Hospital, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (Aix-Marseille University) and the University of Aberdeen, UK.
A total of 1,942 adults between the ages of 18 and 64 were surveyed. Researchers found nearly one-third (29%) refused any vaccine. And a majority, 71%, expressed hesitancy mainly because of the effectiveness of vaccines and the country where they are produced.
Hesitancy mainly emanated from the choice of countries mentioned in the survey, US, EU and China and perceptions that rushed development and safety concerns would be compromised outside Europe.
There was a 61% acceptance rate if the vaccine with 90% effectiveness was manufactured in the EU. The figure fell to 27%, the lowest if the vaccine was made in China, with 50% or even 90% effectiveness.
Researchers recommend that mass vaccination strategies are likely to be more successful if vaccines produced in the US or the European Union are shown to have robust evidence of high levels of effectiveness.
The study notes that since last year, in light of the availability of several vaccines, a second wave with new variants and communicating the collective benefits of herd immunity, may have resulted in a change of attitudes and reducing hesitancy.
France kickstarted its vaccination campaign Dec. 27 in line with several European countries. But it was panned for an initial sluggish response, mismanagement, lack of coordination, waste and pandering to anti-vaxxers.
As of Friday, 1,687,026 people were injected with the first dose.
After a slow start, the prime minister has promised to inoculate 1.7 million people this month and allow the vast network of pharmacies to inject people.
Dr. Michaël Schwarzinger from Bordeaux University Hospital said “the findings suggest that vaccine hesitancy, alongside other factors including limited vaccine supplies and the emergence of new COVID-19 strains, continues to pose major challenges to getting the pandemic under control.”
He added the research could be used to devise national vaccination strategies that people are likely to support.
Researchers Pierre Verger from Observatoire Regional de la Sante Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur and Patrick Peretti-Watel from Aix-Marseille University said the study shows that most people are probably not absolutely for or against vaccines and hesitancy may stem from varied factors.
“Health authorities must anticipate these behaviours, especially since the characteristics that influence them could change over time,” they said.
The study was published as part of a collection of three papers assessing aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic in France. It was funded by the French Public Health Agency.
One of the other studies sought to better understand common factors associated with in-hospital cases and deaths across the country, while the other investigated the prevalence of the virus among the homeless in Paris, according to the Lancet.

Vaccine hesitancy suggests people think “will I, won’t I?”, making it look like the battle of the Covid vax is half-won, but many of us are not hesitant about it. We pure straight up-and-down don’t want it.
The crowd at the Australian Tennis Open had the right idea and got their message across when at the mention of the vaccine they booed it. The authorities didn’t like it and I assume the boo was heard around the world, but to mention the vax at a major sports event suggests they’re believing their own lies.
It’s all good and well, having vaccine hesitancy, but there’s diddly squat you can do, as one who doesn’t take the vaccine, when the government calls for mandatory vaccination.
What, for example, will you do when:
1. A mandatory vaccination ID/passport card is needed to travel on transport?
2. A mandatory vaccination ID/passport card is needed to work?
3. A mandatory vaccination ID/passport card is needed to enter places of business/supermarkets?
4. A mandatory vaccination ID/passport card is needed to claim welfare benefits?
What happens when, if staying in a flat, supporting yourself, as one who hasn’t taken the vaccine, the government blacklists your house/flat from all food/postal deliveries? Imagine going on Amazon/eBay and ordering an item to be told that they won’t be delivering to your house? Not a problem you say, you’ll just have it delivered to a friends’ property. And what happens when they blacklist that property too, because they’re aiding people who haven’t taken the vaccine? What happens when they turn off your electric, gas and water?
You see, here’s the thing; people are going to say that’ll never happen, but already most of it is on the cards. I’ve seen no fight back. I’ve seen no challenges by any judiciary against the government whatsoever, but I have seen posh, ex judiciary windbags complain. The government is implementing legislation after legislation (not law) and the public has happily complied. The west has effectively been on lockdown (self imprisonment) for nearly a year!
Sure you’ll get away with living off grid, with solar panel roofs and your own water supply, but that’s only up until the armed forces come around, throw you into a van and put you in a covid, anti vaxxer, concentration camp.
Bottom line? You either get rid of government and start a long process of bringing all politicians, police, judiciary, corporatists, medical staff, pharmaceutical giants’ staff, freemasons, aristocracy etc to justice for their attempt at world genocide or they win.
They want the world vaccinated because they want 90% of the world’s population dead. They want this world for themselves and you not on it. Until people wake up to that fact, they’re going to continue and they will succeed. Anyone who opposes their agenda will simply be removed. You (not the truthseekers who most certainly know this) fail to understand that they will stop at NOTHING to achieve their goals. They don’t give a f*ck about you, never have and never will!
You’re at war people. You’d better start accepting that and acting on it. The clock is ticking…
I’ve just been phoned by my doctor’s surgery about the Covid vaccine and was quite surprised by the reply. After receiving two texts over the last week about making an appointment, which I simply ignored, a receptionist rung me and said I was entitled to a vaccine if I was interested in making an appointment. I said no thanks. She said excuse me, and after I repeated “No, thanks” (expecting being asked to explain why I was refusing), she said that was okay and if I changed my mind just call them back and arrange an appointment.
This is far different from what I expected. I’ve read others were told they’d be put on a refusal list, so I don’t know if there are too many refusing vaccination for the authorities to get authoritarian, or if the policy of my doctor’s surgery is not to push it.
Michael McNulty: The other good point about the ‘hesitancy’ is that it will bugger up their Covid passport plans. Even if 25% of sheeple say no, that is a huge number of sheeple locked out of many areas of the economy.
We shall see how this plays out, but I won’t be traveling in Europe this Summer/Winter 2021/22 if Covid passports are required. And this leads to the other problem, if one or two big EU states say no to Covid passports, they are the ones who will get the business. So their plans could quickly fall apart. My plans my be Summer in Scotland if I can dodge the evil witches border guards.
The article seems of value because it reveals the kind of (some) data The Power$ That Be collect on-goingly, to monitor trends, gain insight into the “psychology” of peoples they intend to control through seeding and influencing Mass Mind. I suspect this report is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg and released with the intent of communicating this: You who refuse “the vaccine” — not even a vaccine, really — are a minority. Implied: You who waffle, sit on the fence, we shall find the persuasive forces and conditions to get you on our side.
I’d just like to point out a story in the Daily Fail. It quotes Boris saying: “Zero-Covid is impossible”. I think this is interesting & a bit ‘Freudian slip’ if you ask me. How does Boris know this? Does this confirm that Covid mutates as often as AIDS? The way things look, we will be back in lockdown by September.
If you find any evil in your life I bet you can soon see when you invited it in if you think back. Government does not change the facts of sovereignty but most people at some point surrender it. They have not been taught the real rules.
