Western intelligence services and the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group have agreed to launch terrorist attacks in war-ravaged Syria following a series of meetings, according to an informed media source.

The meetings, which have been held since the beginning of the year, were attended by field leaders of Daesh and other terrorist groups as well as representatives from the security agencies of the US, France, Britain and a number of regional countries in Syria’s southern al-Tanf region, Russia’s Sputnik news agency, citing the source, said in a report on Friday.

In their meetings, they discussed “intensifying attacks on Syrian government forces and Russian military bases in Syria” and what they claimed to be armed groups loyal to Iran, the source said.

“Christian churches, mosques and places of worship for different sects have been included in the list of targets,” Sputnik news agency quoted the media source as saying.

“Within the framework of the agreements reached on coordinating actions, terrorist groups should be provided with funding, technologies, ammunition and modern weapons systems.”

The source said Daesh terrorists, who are being transferred from Iraq and released from prisons and temporary detention camps in the Kurdish-controlled areas in the west of the Euphrates River, are “undergoing special training under the supervision of American forces and will be used to launch raids” against the specified targets.

“The sleeper cells of Takfiri terrorist outfits will also be used to that end in southern and southwestern Syria as well as in major cities in the center of the country,” the source added.

There have been several reports that the US military has transferred Daesh prisoners to the Iraqi-Syrian border in order to provide a pretext for its continued presence in the region and for future attacks on the Syrian army.

In a meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih in Baghdad last week, Iranian Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raeisi also said the United States was relocating Daesh terrorists from their former bastions in Syria and Iraq under the guise of fighting terror.

“While Iraq, Syria, Iran and regional countries are working together to eliminate the remnants of Daesh, the Americans do nothing but relocate the Daesh terrorists in the region,” Raeisi added.

The Syrian army has the backing of Iran, Russia and Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement in its battle against a host of foreign-backed militant groups, which have been wreaking havoc on the country since 2011.

Syrian government troops and their allies have managed to retake roughly 80 percent of the war-ravaged Arab country’s territory from the Takfiri terrorists.

The Syrian army is fighting to drive out remaining militants, but the presence of US and European forces and Turkish troops has slowed down its advances.

The report by the Russia’s Sputnik news agency comes as Daesh has ramped up terrorist attacks in Syria and neighboring Iraq over the past months.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), better known as Hashd al-Sha’abi, have been battling the remnants of Daesh terrorists in the northern part of the Arab country.

Iraq dismantles Daesh cell, arrests terrorist leaders in north

Arabic-language Almaalomah news agency reported on Friday the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to Daesh, the arrest of two Takfiri terrorist leaders and also the destruction of two vehicles belonging to the terrorist outfit in Iraq’s north-central province of Salahuddin and Kirkuk.

Separately, Sadiq al-Husseini, the spokesman for Hashd al-Sha’abi in Iraq’s Diyala, announced that the popular forces had thwarted Daesh attempts to target the electricity towers in the north of the province.

Husseini also underlined that the PMU’s extensive operations continue to target Daesh terrorists in these areas.
