An armed and angry mob surround the seat of government in the capital of a democracy, claiming the most recent election is invalid.
In ferocious clashes between the crowd and the police, several lie dead and many are wounded. Eventually, armed men force their way into the very debating chamber.
And what happens? The mob wins. The government flees for its life. Nice liberal-minded Western governments, especially the American one, along with nice liberal media, rejoice at the outcome of these events, the overthrow of an elected government by unconstitutional means and mass intimidation.
Some of you may recall these events in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, in February 2014. I certainly do, because I found them repellent and wrong. Almost alone among Western journalists, I argued that this had been a violent putsch.
Just imagine the outcry if a Russian diplomat or politician had been mingling with the horrible rabble which stormed the US Capitol in Washington (pictured). And quite right too.
The toppled government of President Viktor Yanukovych was ugly and corrupt, beyond doubt. But by the standards of Ukraine’s young democracy, it was still legitimate.
Elections were due within a year, which could have removed those in power lawfully. The mob did not wish to wait, and even shoved aside a deal brokered by several European statesmen to preserve the rules.
Not long before this explosion, many major figures were seen fraternising with the crowds which later became the mob, including the late US Senator John McCain and Victoria Nuland, then Washington’s Assistant Secretary of State, now tipped for a high place in the Biden administration.
They did not call for the violent overthrow of the Yanukovych government. But they were all quite happy to associate with a partisan crowd in the capital of a sovereign nation, and the demonstrators must surely have taken heart from their presence

So answer me this, all you lofty liberals. I have always despised Donald Trump and the empty-headed movement he created, and I am here quite happy to say that the invasion of the halls of the US Congress by Trump supporters was a grotesque, evil and criminal enterprise, which I utterly condemn without the tiniest reservation.
But will you, even now, say that the violent putsch in Kiev, six years ago, was just as wrong?
No, you won’t. Because – as your failure to defend liberty shows – you have no real principles. You put them on as fancy dress when you need to pose. But in reality you will do what you have to, to get the power you want. Your outrage is phoney and selective, and I do not trust it.

Why are all stogy conservatives so up tight about people making a stink about their election being so obviously stolen? Get over it. The US banking-military-intelligence-industrial complex in the last election boldly stated that democracy is dead and their nation is now a totalitarian state. Top-down like China is the way to go with no more wasted pretense of the people really deciding anything that is important. Who cares about a false-flag of Antifa leading the charge to discredit the so very proper segment of Trump supporters? Notice there was no violence between the instigators and the Trump followers. The only real violence was from some cop who allegedly shot his gun through a widow into a crowd. Otherwise, the authorities let the protesters do as they wanted. What do you expect young, red-blooded, patriotic Americans who “were” Trump supporters to do when they see how rigged their elections are and that entire capital is filled with lying, corrupt phonies?

I don’t want to be picky but perhaps the word ‘elite’ has been going through the same process of transformation as the word ‘gay’ some 40 years ago.
The word ‘elite’ according to the present Google dictionary means – “a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.” This idea would make those who considered by themselves or others to be superior in some respects to be considered as elites.
According to the Oxford dictionary the word means – “belonging to a group of people in society that is small in number but powerful and with a lot of influence, because they are rich, intelligent, etc. an elite group of senior officials.”
According to the Cambridge it means – “the richest, most powerful, best-educated, or best-trained group in a society”
In any case, for our purposes we low-life inferior types usually use the term in a very pejorative sense with a good measure of derision for those running the world who appear to have a great deal of contempt for us, meaning the elect, the aristocracy, the oligarchy, the plutocracy, the establishment, the Davos billionaires, or the very ruling cabal itself. These are the people who for the most part want to cull the world of those they consider to be its non-essential population. They appear to have absolutely no basis in their puny belief systems or experiences in life to attribute “intrinsic worth” to other people outside of their family, class, nation, race, religion or cabal, sufficient enough to adhere to the principle that everyone is endowed with inalienable basic rights which they have no right to take away or abridge.
The elites who are generally considered most despicable to us untouchables are those who have risen to positions of power and influence usually by exploiting others by trampling over their basic rights in some way, or have inherited their positions whose ancestors have done the same, or who exercise their powers in an unjust or amoral manner. They see their god or supreme being and even themselves in a totally top-down fashion in which power, position, and money is dispensed from the top of a pyramid, whereby those they abuse are to them just tiny, remote, and insignificant creatures who hardly count even for a unique number in their plans, let alone as persons of any significance to be respected. Their concept of god and eternity is egocentric and temporal with no real sense of awe in the Divine transcendence or reverence of His immanence in others. Most of us fail to varying degrees in this regard, but at least in the practice of the very faith, which the same elites are so eager to eradicate, we are spared the blindness and corruption which comes with the unchecked pursuit and possession of wealth and power, and in these days which makes the lot of them all such monsters.

While the overarching theme of this piece has some merit, Hitchens really lays a rotten egg with the meat of it all. Hitchens called the movement behind Trump “empty headed”. What? While a lot of the Trump supporters may not have realized Trump is a bloviating stooge and no true agent for change, what people bought into was the IDEA of “draining the swamp”, curtailing illegal destructive immigration, returning manufacturing to the US, restoring some sanity in foreign policy that had gone full-on psychopath, and resisting globalism. Those goals were good, noble, and true, and far from being “empty headed”.

Otherwise, a march on Congress by patriotic citizens was long overdue. I am no Trump fan, but this election was clearly a complete sham; blatantly fraudulent and grossly illegitimate. Just as the election in 2000 was obscenely thrown for Bush Jr. Frankly, the protestors had every right, a duty really, to throw treasonous members of Congress and the Supreme Court out into the streets and have them hanged.
The ruling class has left no other option, Mr. Hitchens. This past year more than ever the ruling class has made it crystal clear there is no remedy or recourse to be had for good citizens via the ballot box, the mainstream press, nor the legal system. That leaves the citizenry only one other option. There is no partnership between government and the governed. It is now an adversarial relationship in which the government bleeds the working people dry with a system of onerous taxation without representation. The federal government has become, over the past 100 years, nothing but an out-of-control criminal cartel. As the enforcers for the blatantly criminal and disgustingly immoral private central banking cartel, governments have shifted from covert war against their own people to overt war and naked tyranny.
Hitchens should stick to his pieces on the covid-1984 crime, at least he was getting those right.
