Dutch police confront anti-lockdown protesters in Amsterdam

Police in Amsterdam have turned a water cannon on hundreds of demonstrators who were taking part in a banned protest against the Dutch government and its tough coronavirus lockdown.
Mounted police on horses also moved in to break up the demonstration on Sunday in a large square ringed by museums, including the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum.
Amsterdam municipality said riot police took action to disperse the crowd because people weren’t adhering to social distancing measures.
“Because of the danger to public health, it is important that everybody sticks to the measures in force. The demonstrators are not doing that,” the municipality said in a tweet.
By mid-afternoon, the square was empty apart from dozens of police, although some protesters remained in streets nearby.
The demonstration had been banned earlier in the week because of fears that too many people would attend and not stick to social distancing.
The protest in Amsterdam happened as ministers in the Netherlands’ caretaker government were meeting in The Hague to discuss options to rein in the spread of the coronavirus, including the possibility of imposing a curfew for the first time since the pandemic began.
The government resigned on Friday following publication of a damning report into a scandal involving thousands of parents being falsely labelled fraudsters by tax officials, but the ministers are remaining in power until a new coalition is formed after a March 17 general election.
It comes in the days and weeks following similar protests in other European capitals, including Vienna, Prague and Copenhagen.
About 2000+ demonstrators showed up. As expected the Police started beating up the protesters with canes and used their horses and dogs to drive the people from the square. 143 got arrested. What can you expect from a socialist Mayor? During the reign of two former socialist Mayors here 200 million euro got stolen from the Cities finances and 86 very young children raped in a day-care center in a case were only ONE person got convicted. The husband of the rapist, yes he was a homosexual, works in a… day-care center!
The elite are getting scared of We the People. They’re slipping allover, too much bullshit for traction.
Notice this is only happening in white western nations. No lockdown police oppression in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

How long ago is it when you had to ask the police/government to protest? The whole purpose of protests is most certainly to disagree with something that the government does, therefore, you have to be thicker than sh*t to ask the people you want to protest against, for permission to hold a protest. I wonder what the chances are of them saying “no” are?
And if you go ahead with the protest, after being told you can’t, I wonder, subsequently, what the chance are of the police wading in, heavy handed and using, oh I don’t know, water cannons maybe?
