A large percentage of front-line workers in hospitals and nursing homes have refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine, a hurdle for public health officials as the country struggles to roll out inoculations around the country.
About 50 percent of front-line workers in California’s Riverside County have refused to take the vaccine, Riverside Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari told The Los Angeles Times on Thursday. California is currently overwhelmed with cases as hospital staff in Southern California face a shortage of intensive-care units and have created makeshift units.
Vaccine development and distribution has been the target of persistent conspiracy theories and disinformation on social media, although it’s unclear how much impact this anti-vaccination movement has had on overall public trust in the process.
About 2 in 10 Americans are certain they will not change their mind about refusing the vaccine, according to data from the Pew Research Center. And 62 percent said they would be uncomfortable being among the first to receive the vaccine.
Anecdotally, an estimated 60 percent of Ohio nursing home employees have refused the vaccine already, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said during a news briefing Wednesday. It’s a stark contrast to the number of nursing home residents who have taken the vaccine when offered, which DeWine guessed to be about 85 percent.
“We’re not going to make them, but we wish we had a higher compliance,” DeWine said. “And our message today is: The train may not be coming back for awhile. We’re going to make it available to everyone eventually, but this is the opportunity for you, and you should really think about getting it.”
Rollout for the vaccine has already been met with several logistical hurdles as only 2.6 million people have been vaccinated as of Wednesday. A review by NBC News of earlier data Tuesday found that at the current rate, it would take almost 10 years to inoculate enough Americans to get the pandemic under control.

A survey of 2,053 New York City firefighters found that more than half said they would refuse the Covid-19 vaccine when it became available to them, according to a poll released by the Uniformed Firefighters Association this month.
Some of those firefighters may overlap with those who have already contracted the coronavirus and don’t believe they need to get the inoculation, Andy Ansbro, the union president, said.
“As a union we are encouraging our members to get the vaccine, but we are defending their right to make that choice,” Ansbro said. “I personally feel this vaccine is safe, I’ve done my own research, I will be getting the vaccine and I will be encouraging other members to do so. In the end, it is their own personal choice.”
Ansboro was among the many essential workers who received the vaccine, according to a photo posted by the UFA on Tuesday. The FDNY reported that 1,000 members had been vaccinated by Tuesday.
A number of politicians, public health officials and front-line workers have taken the vaccine publicly to assert confidence in the shots, including leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence.
Intensive care unit nurse Sandra Linsdsay was among the first in the country to receive the vaccine, telling reporters that she felt “relieved” afterward.
“I feel the healing is coming,” Linsdsay said. “I hope this marks the beginning of the end of the very painful time in our history.”

When Ohio Governor Mike De Wine says, “We’re not going to make them, but we wish we had a higher compliance” I think it’s a Freudian slip. If the plan was to make it voluntary he’s surely have said we wish we had a higher take-up. But he said compliance, and I think that’s their next step. But when they take that step the fightback will become stronger, because it’s forcing people to take a turn at Russian roulette; but at least in Russian roulette you spin the chamber and know your chance of survival are 5 out of 6, or about 85%. Compared to this unknown vaccine those roulette odds look good, but people would still fight that.
If you survive Russian roulette you get to walk away unharmed, but with this vaccine you may walk away unharmed but could have taken a 100% kill shot. We just don’t know, we haven’t had time to evaluate it. It may need a second shot to combine to become lethal, or it may need 5G to act with. But if it becomes mandatory the natural fear [with reason] is it’s a lethal injection that might have a delayed reaction. I think it’s that push for compulsion which we haven’t reached yet which will forge an organised resistance to it.
So far the only threat they’ve presented to their populations is the [phoney] pandemic. But that’s just the conditioning, the softening up, but like the Bolsheviks and Nazis they can’t take over the world with just propaganda. There’ll come a time when they meet enough resistance that they have to resort to violence – in our case that’ll be forcing the vaccines – and that’s when the need to forcefully resist will become clear to so many, not just to those aware of the evil but to those still asleep and even some who took the poison.
Good for these informed medical workers.
Do not take the Covid “vaccine” even in the threat of internment or death.
Just say: “No, Hell no!”.
How can anyone say that they have done their research on this vaccine and say they feel it is safe and will be taking it, its full of shit that will make you so ill if not immediately then in the future and, will result in death. This vaccine to me let alone anyone in the medical profession is an abomination. It contains a death sentence and, yet their are people falling over each other to take it and the worse thing of all is that doctors are promoting it big time and whilst that happens and the brainwashing continues the fools will continue to take it.
When I have spoken to friends and family regarding this vaccine and ask them if they will ask what is in the vaccine before taking it or find research on what’s in the vaccine they turn round and tell me I am the fool as they trust the government because they feel they would never do anything to harm them. I am told I am dangerous because I do not take vaccines for anything and yet those in my family who do take every vaccine that is offered them have contracted Parkinson’s, Diabetes, Antiphospholipid syndrome, Narcolepsy. Tumors, and MS (Multiple chlorosis). These are all vaccine induced but they wont have it, as for me I am fine. When I did take vaccines a very long time ago for travel and flu first one only and last I had anaphylactic shock never had a vaccine since on the advice of a doctor and yet people are being advised that if you have a reaction to the vaccine the GP should have a crash team on hand.
I read a story about a student who had anaphylactic shock on a vaccine once and did not want to take the Covid vaccine for fear it would happen again was told if he didn’t get the Covid shot he would not be allowed his place at college.
This young students house master said to him “go to hospital have the shot but make sure there is a crash team there because they will bring you back if anything happens telling him at least you can say you have taken the shot and then you will not lose your college place.
Really you couldn’t make it up. If all of this wasn’t so serious you would die laughing.
