Traditionally the Guardian has been viewed as a left-leaning outlet, which appealed to the more liberal and politically less orthodox. As such it offered the perfect conduit for the security services and those who wished to shape public opinion. Enabling them to drip feed ideas into the public domain that few would believe came from the establishment.
In effect, the Guardian operated as an unofficial and artfully disguised mouthpiece for the powers that be.
Thus the Guardian was publishing articles that challenged the stigma attached to homosexuality long before the “gay lifestyle” was deemed officially acceptable.
The article below suggests that the establishment are now getting seriously worried about the growing influence of “conspiracy theories”. Readers will note that it doesn’t actually examine any of these theories in detail. Instead it just dismisses them as “false” without any scrutiny whatsoever.
In other words the powers that be are concerned that too many people might be starting to think for themselves. Ed.
False claims that pandemic is a hoax or was started deliberately are attracting adherents around world

Significant numbers of people around the world believe Covid-19 was created deliberately, has killed far fewer people than reported, or is a hoax and does not actually exist, according to a global survey.
Along with belief in other conspiracy theories – such as that the world is run by a secret cabal – the YouGov-Cambridge Globalism Project, a survey of about 26,000 people in 25 countries designed in collaboration with the Guardian, found widespread and concerning scepticism about vaccine safety.
Among the most widely believed Covid conspiracies is that the death rate of the virus, which according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker has so far killed nearly 1.1 million people worldwide, has been “deliberately and greatly exaggerated”. Nearly 60% of respondents in Nigeria said this was definitely or probably true, along with more than 40% in Greece, South Africa, Poland and Mexico. About 38% of Americans, 36% of Hungarians, 30% of Italians and 28% of Germans felt the same.
There is evidence the coronavirus pandemic has prompted some people to say they trust experts more, but it has also triggered a wave of disinformation and fake news propagated by science deniers and conspiracy theorists that has spread virally on social networks.
Professor Neil Ferguson who informed the UK government on Covid-19, initially warned the pandemic could kill 500,00. He wasn’t criticised for being alarmist, even though he grossly over-estimated the pandemic death toll. “Any scary event – a pandemic, a mass shooting – that denies people a sense of control will lead to a proliferation of conspiracy theories,” said Stephan Lewandowsky, a cognitive psychologist at the University of Bristol who is an expert on misinformation.
“They give people a sense of psychological comfort: the feeling that they are not at the mercy of randomness. They’re dangerous at any time, but more so in a pandemic if they lead people to ignore official advice, or commit acts of vandalism or violence.”
But conspiracy theories also thrived on “governments’ inability to have a clear message”, said Lewandowsky. “They are another reason why we all need clear, consistent, evidence-based policymaking that can be trusted.”
Among other countries, roughly one in four French and one in five British and Spanish respondents believed the death rate of the virus had been exaggerated, while Australians, Swedes and Japanese were more likely to dismiss such a belief.
Significant numbers also thought the virus had been “deliberately created and spread” by the Chinese or US government, while in Poland one in five people believed it was definitely or probably a complete myth, created by unidentified “powerful forces”. Roughly the same proportions in Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia said they agreed with that proposition, while in the US the figure reached 13%.
The false claim that 5G mobile technology is to blame for the spread of Covid-19 also has plenty of adherents, according to the survey, which was conducted in July and August.
More than a fifth of respondents in Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and South Africa believed it was definitely or probably true that symptoms were “caused or enhanced by the direct, physical effects on the human body” of 5G.
More than half of Nigerians, more than 40% of South Africans, Poles and Turks, more than 35% of Americans, Brazilians and Spaniards and between one in four and one in five French, British, Italian and German respondents believed it was definitely or probably true that Covid-19 had been deliberately created and spread by the Chinese government.
Significant numbers also thought the US government was responsible for creating and spreading the virus: as many as 37% of respondents in Turkey, against one in five in Greece and Spain, 16% in Poland, 12% in France and just 5% in the UK. About 17% of American citizens said they believed it was definitely or probably true that their own government was to blame.
The survey also tested belief levels in common non-Covid conspiracy theories, finding between 20% and 30% support in 10 countries – including South Africa, Brazil, Hungary and Poland – for the belief that manmade global heating was “a hoax invented to deceive”.
Similar proportions thought the moon landings were faked, while between 20% and 30% of respondents in Spain, France, the US, Italy and Germany thought the US government “knowingly helped make the 9/11 terrorist attacks happen”. Between 20% and 44% of people in 17 countries believed or thought it likely that humans had made contact with aliens.
The most widely held conspiracy theory by some distance, however, was that despite who may officially be in charge of national governments and other organisations, there was “a single group of people who secretly control events and rule the world together”.
This was held to be “definitely or probably true” by more than 20% of respondents across 20 countries, including 28% of Britons, 36% of French respondents, 37% of Americans, 45% of Italians, 47% of Poles, 55% of Spaniards, 68% of South Africans and 78% of Nigerians.
The survey revealed widespread and significant anti-vaccination sentiment, a matter of serious concern to many governments that hope soon to be able to inoculate their populations against Covid-19.
Across 19 different countries 20% or more of respondents said they gave at least some credibility to the view that “the truth about the harmful effects of vaccines is being deliberately hidden from the public”, including 57% of South Africans, 48% of Turks, 38% of French people, 33% of Americans, 31% of Germans and 26% of Swedes.
While the UK was among the countries with the lowest rates of anti-vaccination sentiment, almost one in five people – 19% – still agreed either wholly or partially with the statement. Research by the Guardian recently found engagement with anti-vaccination content on Facebook had trebled in a month.
I’m glad the Guardian published this. When you get the flack, you know you’re over the target.
As has been said, only when you get the official denial do you know it’s true.
Time to re-watch the 2005 film “V For Vendetta.”

I suspect that the numbers of dissenters is far greater than referenced here. So many people are aware that in their neighbourhood nobody has CV19, and nobody has died of it. There is very little; people have their own trusted sources which are far more likely to provide balanced opinions about what is really going on. The great awakening continues.

To discredit a story that is true, the jews media labels it a conspiracy theory. When mass media calls a story a conspiracy theory, that is confirmation that the story is true.
Even if it had killed one- point- one million people it would be trivial, but, as with deaths in Nazi concentration camps, routine ones are counted as having a sinister cause, even if the dying one is 93 years old.

“conspiracy theory” ?? The term was most likely invented by the CIA to denigrate people questioning government propaganda and fake news. It arose sometime after the Kennedy assassination and of course the US mockingbird media was quick to say that the suspicion that the CIA invented the term was itself a conspiracy theory. In any case, the label is mainly used to dismiss anyone who accuses the power elites of lying, even though they all believe they have an absolute right to deceive, cheat, intimidate, defame, rob, assassinate, and murder anyone they like with absolute impunity.
We who question things in this century like 9/11 and the Covid pandemic, are essentially what I call “probability realists”, people who use reason and common sense, when the facts do not fit the official government and media narratives. A better survey would be to determine what percentage of the people blindly trust their governments and the media. My observation is that people mainly trust those they should not because they have been conditioned by the media to do so with their constant brainwashing, and because trusting gives them a sense of security in aligning their views with their masters, like lap dogs with their tongues hanging out waiting for a pat or their scraps.
The standard of proof in our common-law courts is the “balance of probabilities”, which is simply proof over 50%. Decisions on that basis move billions of dollars one way or the other and also change peoples lives in major ways. That is essentially the same standard or judgment and decision making used by most business people and investors. When the stakes are life and death then the standard of proof of course increases. The criminal standard of “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” allows for a lot of crime but protects the innocent, however in the process you also find many of the decisions being made on the balance of probabilities. No doubt the corporatocracy marching out the Great Reset is likely to do away with much of our court system, and most likely the common law altogether, as they march appears to be to completely eradicate the integrity of the individual person.
The scientific standard of proof is mainly what Covid skeptics have relied upon and it is a very rigorous standard in which numbers and fake numbers really do matter. The evidence of monetary inducements to call any death a Covid death in the US, one would have to say has destroyed the reliance on any CDC data for any flu infection rates this year, and into the future and it also calls into question the reliability of any of their past data, which appears to be strongly influenced by big pharma vaccination money.
If the people in power were not so interested in power and money and so willing to twist facts to salsify those interests then perhaps there would be more honesty and trust. The good thing about the Covid pandemic is that with all of the information out there (which the establishment is now desperately trying to suppress), trust in the establishment is an issue and it is quickly decreasing because of the actual facts. To make matters worse for themselves causing more polarity and mistrust, they likely will have to use force to silence the experts and critics who are saying the Emperor has no clothes – no doubt the reason for internment camps. For those of us who can see more clearly, this time it is not just that the private parts of the corrupt establishment showing, which have been in plain view to us to decades, it is their arrogance with the magnitude of the Covid deception and their continued terror mongering over something which is not really a threat justifying any of the restrictions.
Apart from the heinous crimes of destroying people’s business and deliberately bankrupting our economies, it is sheer government and media tyranny to see so many pathetic ignorant and frightened people wearing masks when there is nothing more lethal out there than the common flu. Never before right during one of their psyops, such as in the year of 9/11 or during the big WMD lie, has there been so much exposure and well-deserved absolute mistrust and disgust for all of our leaders and for especially the elites who control them. It took about 10 to 12 years for the 9/11 truth movement to really register and for people to wake up and start listening. The reason is that with passage of time the truth is more readily separated from interest and the actual facts with any rational analysis have this uncanny ability to emerge and survive while the lies and does not compute go into the dustbin. With the Covid scam never before have so many disinterested (impartial) people been so observant and able to filter the facts from what is fake. Also, unlike 9/11 which was one sudden event, this is a psyop which the power elites are desperately trying with additional lies to prolong and prolong. Already this same establishment, (without any official government, elite, or political opposition anywhere) have on June 3 formally announced the official launching the Great Planned Reset to radically alter all aspects of our lives, which they say “coincidentally” and “fortuitously” require the shutting down of our systems and the way we live our lives. How bold about the actual reasons for the planned Covid pandemic can you get? The longer they carry on, the greater and more precarious the big lie becomes, and in fact with all of the cracks in the façade, they must be getting quite worried to publish such an article in one of their favorite mouth pieces – the “Guardian of the Establishment”.
Its the snakes triangle of deceit. Make the world think that the pandemic is the real deal by creating the conspiracy theory as foolish and dangerous but all the time knowing that the conspiracy theory is correct so it is a divert to divide and conquer. Very clever but not clever enough as the snakes have been rumbled. Its a Hoax and we know it.
So what have they in store for us next. Remember they don’t want to be harmed themselves so no nukes or plagues and so it is a vaccine that they will never take themselves but most of the human race will be coerced into taking it.
If we all said no to the vaccine and stood our ground this would all go away but unfortunately the COVIDIOTS will take it and so here we are again the snakes relying on their old friend divide and conquer. What will they unleash after that probably another pandemic that will finish the vaccine takers off but not those who haven’t taken the vaccine so what then?
There are conspiracies, we sense them, then theorise about them, then test the theories and confirm some of them while rejecting others, so their slur is a limiting description of what we do, like calling an athlete someone who moves about a bit.
@ACTIVISOR: With regard to Public Demonstrations, Governments have known for years about the “Law of 10” whereby they know that for every person who shows up at a protest rally, there are another 9 that do not – but they also sympathize. This is how they gauge their opposition.
So the anti Lockdown Demo in Berlin where over a million people participated, when multiplied by 10 means that a substantial portion of the German population were in sympathy.
