People who were asymptomatic accounted for 86% of the people who tested positive for COVID-19 in a UK sample population during lockdown, a study showed on Thursday, meaning the current policy of testing people with symptoms might miss many cases.
In England, people are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 only if they have symptoms of a persistent cough, fever, or loss of taste or smell, with suspected contacts of positive cases told to self-isolate in the first instance.
But epidemiologists at University College London found that such an approach might miss the vast majority of cases, complicating Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s attempts to clamp down on a second wave of the virus.
UCL scientists used the Office for National Statistics Infection Survey, which looks at the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community and not only those who get a test because they have symptoms.
The pilot study sampled 36,061 people living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who were tested between April 26 and June 27.
Of the 115 with a positive result, only 16 reported symptoms, with 99 not reporting any specific symptoms on the day of the test. Moreover, 142 people who reported symptoms on the day of the test did not test positive for COVID-19, vastly outnumbering those who tested positive.
“The fact that so many people who tested positive were asymptomatic on the day of a positive test result calls for a change to future testing strategies,” said Irene Petersen of UCL Epidemiology & Health Care.
“More widespread testing will help to capture ‘silent’ transmission and potentially prevent future outbreaks.”
The authors noted that other studies showed different results, with one in China suggesting just 5% of cases were asymptomatic, and a study in Iceland suggesting 43 cases out of 100 had no symptoms. They added that the sampling used in any study was likely to be a factor in its findings.
My comment is distantly related to this article. It appears from my wires on the ground, that children, specifically, young children are not only carrying the current Covid bioweapon, they are also displaying symtoms & are getting ill.
Only a couple of months ago, the regime was actually saying children aren’t at risk & that there was little or no evidence that children are carriers.
I am not refering to children who have had positive PCR tests. I am talking about children who are displaying symptoms & actually look ill. I’ll set aside the university testing propaganda.
Whatever is going around at the moment, is not the same as earlier this year. It won’t be long before the fake news is given permission to report on what is currently developing in our young lambs. The question is, how many children will get ill, how many will die and how much will the infection and death rate data be rigged?
Remember, they are working to a time frame & we are only approaching mid October. Regime (puppet) leader Boris Johnson has already indicated that the worst will come after Christmas. Plenty of fake news fear mongering at the moment. My feeling is that this will continue until mid to late November and the fake news stories will become much worse. They want public opinions to change and I think lots of dead lambs might do the trick.
I’ve checked this comment because I’m fed up with errors that minifest after posting and further errors that develope days later. All very odd.
Two massive red flags here!
1) “positive” results showing NO symptoms!
2) “negative” results showing actual symptoms!
A very obvious, in-your-face marker that points overwhelmingly to an orchestrated scam.
An investigation into WHY factual science is being suppressed would be a more realist strategy rather than calling for a change in testing, which is missing the point entirely.
Perhaps the positives were false positives. Even the WHO says people with no symptoms are not infectious, their immune system has countered the virus. They may have bits of dead virus which will be recognised by the test but they’re harmless.

No symptoms,,, no Case but everyone wants to pretend it is.
And the PCR Test cannot determine “infection” or “viral load” but everyone wants to pretend it can.
They have never isolated the virus so it doesn’t exist except in their imagination but everyone is sure it exists.
So if they haven’t coded the virus what do they have the PCR Test looking for?

There is no virus – that’s why they needed to close the health services in country after country to create excess deaths.
