A father-of-three whose “superman-strength” sperm helped gay couples and singles mums conceive is suing the IVF clinic that administered it.
Neil Gaskell, who conceived three kids through IVF with his partner, said the births of nine children to same sex couples went against his direct wishes.
He said his decision had nothing to do with “bigotry” or “discrimination” – he just wanted children conceived from his sperm to have a mother and father.
Mr Gaskell said he also found out there were also four children born to heterosexual couples meaning he had 13 children he never knew about, reports the Sunday Mirror.
He eventually settled on a five-figure payout from the clinic but accepted his views could be seen as “divisive”.
Mr Gaskell, 49, launched the legal bid, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, after CARE Fertility Clinic contacted him six years later to say “mistakes may have been made”.
He has since faced criticism from same-sex parents and single mums, with one calling his decision to sue “discriminatory”.
By donating his sperm Mr Gaskell and his partner received discount on their IVF treatment.
However, when he filled in his consent form for his donation, he specified it was “not for same sex couples”.
He said: “It’s not about discrimination, it’s not about bigotry.
“I accept some people will find it uncomfortable but I wanted any children born from my sperm to have a mother and a father.
“I accept what I said will be divisive, but these children are what matters the most. A lot of people will strongly agree with me, a lot will strongly disagree, but my concern is for the kids.
“I didn’t want them being questioned. I didn’t want people making comments like ‘Where’s your dad?’ or ‘Why do you have two mums?’
“It takes a man and a woman to create a child. You can’t argue with millions of years of biology.”
Mr Gaskell was left furious after finding out about all the children he had fathered without his consent.
Why is this even a story?
If we read the article it states:
He said: “I have absolutely no issue with it, be it by adoption, IVF or a surrogate. It’s just in my case I wanted them to have a father figure in their life, in my eyes that would reduce the chances of them coming looking for me when they’re older.”
He’s not angry because he disagrees with the abomination of homosexual men and women having children with his sperm, far from it. He’s angry because he doesn’t want the children created with his sperm coming to look for him. His reasons are 100% selfish.
Any heterosexual man, who donates sperm is committing a crime. If you’re a heterosexual man or a woman, unable to have children naturally, then adopt. If you can’t have children naturally, did it ever occur to you that you may very well be infertile for a reason – i.e. population control?
This man is devoid of morals and ethics and most certainly is suing for a cash payout, NOT out of principle, whatsoever.
