Anyone who thinks Applied Spiritual Living is not the most difficult art of all is either kidding themselves or got a knock-off replica from Easy Street Systems out of San Francisco. They specialize in things that look good and don’t work, as well as hosting seminars that occur on three consecutive weekends that culminate in a four-day intensive at the end. Following this, you get a heavy paper diploma, filled with calligraphy legalese which has a blank space that says, “Applique your specialty here.” The package you get contains two 8 by 11 sheets of paper with 100 sticky labels per page. On these labels are all kinds of professions typed up in the same font and size as the rest of the text on your diploma. You get a small tube of solvent that can be brushed on to whatever sticky label is presently in place. It comes right off and then you can put another sticky label with a new profession in the space. This gives you the opportunity to change professions with ease, should you become disenchanted with any previous picks, or if law enforcement has gotten wind of you.
I mention your best option to hard work and ceaseless devotion, right off the bat, because not everyone is into that. Of course, there is that small aggregate of people who want to do what they know and know what they do, as opposed to a larger body (getting bigger and wider every day) who only want to look like they know that they know what they do. Often enough in today’s world just looking like ‘the guy’ is enough to get you a position with Google, Verizon, or any other multinational, as long as you have memorized the slogans and songs. Don’t let this appear as any kind of a hurdle to you. If you were able to learn, “This Little Piggy” or “Row, Row Your Boat” when you were a kid you will do just fine.
We shall attempt to give you patterns and templates today that WILL… if conscientiously practiced, lead you, if not to the Promised Land, somewhere in the neighborhood of the Promised Land.
I must have a good enough reason for this or I wouldn’t take the time to think it out and write it out and MOST IMPORTANTLY, put me in the proper position to be inspired concerning it and… without which, nothing I say here will have much value.
The usual routine is that you are born somewhere, into a situation that matches what you agreed to before you came down the chute, via the wardrobe department on The Moon. Unless you are Special Circumstances, you were given a choice of particular sequences of appearance and the smaller the number, the greater the degree of difficulty or the more egregious the handicaps. Most People don’t go that route. Most people, as surprising as it may seem, are not looking to spiritual elevation as their End Point. Most people are looking to garner as many meta-crypto Karma Currency tokens as possible to be able to afford some kind of Tom Cruise (insert famous name) life. One has to keep in mind that The Devil is in the details. There was a film that came out about 20 years ago called, “Bedazzled” that covers the ‘crimes of omission’ that Old Scratch likes to get up to. You know why he’s called Old Scratch, right? My theory is it is all about The Itches.
There are more reasons why people come back here again and again than have to do with Karmic Debt. Desire is the agent of God’s Will. We come here to satisfy urges, desires, appetites, aspirations, and the like. The way to Tranquility, Serenity and a passage to places that are so Unbelievably Wonderful that they beggar the imagination, can be found if you can bypass the Garbage Routes. Few of us have the imagination to visualize what is possible and attainable. For some reason, many, many people simply want a privileged spot at The Trough, and HERE is where so much of that goes down (goes down?), and HERE is where so much of it goes UP too. It is here that one accomplishes The Great Work; finds the Pearl of Great Price, or The Philosopher’s Stone, or completes The Operation of the Sun, or achieves Self Realization, or becomes Jivanmukta OR Jivanmukti. Ya mean there’s a difference?
There are as many Heavenly Lokas as there are Hellish Lokas. You get to any one of them through the same process, the specific location being determined by Intention. There are a lot of ways to say the same thing so… if you are thinking of another way of understanding it, yeah… that too.
Where do you want to go? This is a VERY important question and the first one you should ask yourself, once you tumble to the understanding of what is possible. You REALLY CAN go anywhere, PROVIDED you are willing to endure the requirements necessary to arrive there. Once you have made your mind up about this, it only remains for you to apply yourself to it with your WHOLE HEART. There’s no good or bad here, “Nothing is real, everything is permitted.” It’s okay to have the worst ambition you can imagine. That is entirely up to you. You will get your shot at it. It WILL NOT go as you imagine it. It NEVER DOES because NO ONE has that precise an imagination and those who do, DO NOT employ it in such a fashion.
Why do you think Scriptures ALL AGREE on certain points? This bears thinking about. The manner of explanation may vary but Ageless Wisdom is Ageless Wisdom. I would advise that you first get that before you even think about anything else and the first thing to do in that regard is to find a guide. Yeah… you can go out looking for a guide and meet with the usual results unless you got Special Circumstances OR… you can, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” and at a certain point, The Guide WILL appear. I think ‘dividing’ is supposed to be ‘divining’ but… what do I know?
If… you are one of the few who possesses REAL SPIRITUAL ASPIRATION, and you must have some portion of that to be reading this, otherwise it wouldn’t interest you, then you NEED to get; Faith, Certitude, and Determination. There is a reason that these three are grouped together and given such importance. If you do possess these in The Proper Measure, you WILL ATTAIN. You absolutely WILL ATTAIN.
God is incomprehensible and unknowable, regardless of what the Fundies say. One recently mentioned the statement by Jesus, “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?” That ‘might’ be true but then I would ask, When did you see Jesus? Ah… right. It is situations like this that make the whole affair difficult to explain and transmit and why The Wise will say, no matter where you run into them, much of the time, “I don’t know.” I will tell you how you can see God, after a fashion. AND I WILL POINT OUT HERE that you still are not going to see God. You will see the shape taken by God, for whatever the point being made is, was, and will be in that particular outfit. Jesus… like the other presentations which have appeared here, is, was, and will be, The First Emanation of God, meaning ‘they’ were, are and will be, the very embodiment of Love and the physical repository of The Qualities of God.
Acquire The Qualities of God and look in the mirror. You WILL see God. Look with Pure Love into the heart of your neighbor and you WILL see God. Become the embodiment of Love and you will see and be God. That spark of The Divine is in all of us, or WE WOULD NOT BE. It is the Dynamic Animating Principle; resident in each of us. The trick is to bring it forward until ONLY that is expressing through you. This means attaining Selflessness and literally GIVING YOURSELF AWAY, every moment, every day. Most people DO NOT want to do this for very good reasons, or should I say, Strong Reasons, Compelling Reasons? They might not be ‘good’ reasons. Let me add, WITH EMPHASIS! There is NO WAY AROUND THIS. If you want to be this then YOU have to CEASE TO EXIST. This is not easy. It is similar to trying to drown yourself. The will to live is going to fight you and your sense of self is going to fight you. This is ONE of the reasons you need a guide. They have accomplished this and there is more than one way to do that, even though there is ONLY ONE WAY. It is a cosmic conundrum and why there is such a thing as Zen. It is a riddle. It is an enigma. It is a mystery which, once you unravel it is no longer there.
I personally know how hard this is because I try to do it all the time and ALWAYS fall short and I have a guide (grin) but… there’s a timeline, you see?
Two things that you HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND if you are ‘sincerely’ considering the search for God. God WILL BREAK YOUR HEART. There is NO WAY around this. God will not accept you without a broken heart. The door to your heart HAS TO be broken off at the hinges. Love MUST be able to pour freely through the heart’s portal. Love cannot express through a heart that is not free and it cannot be free unless it is giving itself away. Yes… there are other forms of expression that are called Love but they ARE NOT LOVE.
The other thing is that the world will be ruined for you. You MUST know this going in. If you do not want your heart irreparably broken and the world ruined for you, stay away. You will find nothing for you here. You will be sent away.
Everyone who sincerely seeks God will be FOUND by God. You DO NOT find God. God finds you. These words I have written here I know to be true, inasmuch as words can be true. These words are assuredly not comprehensive and never will be. Do not bother looking for God if you cannot match up with the criteria. Leave well enough alone. The day will come, up or down the road, on some Road of Damascus one day, when the requisite passionate intensity and determination are garnered or appear and IT WILL BE DONE. However… NOW is always the time so long as you can persist and endure, or endure and persist, as you prefer (grin). “Success is speedy for the energetic,” keeping in mind that there ‘may be’ a timeline, as is the case with me.

I’ve been through the desert on a horror with no name…” You’re not a reliable guide, Les. What do they teach at Sunday School, America? “kneel young”. That you can’t keep such trivial yet blatantly verifiable minutiae clear renders you unreliable. Too apt to spout off at the keyboard with a sanguine and wannabe all-seeing eye. Gee, what religion would be amenable to the notion of preordained roles? The chute? The wardrobe department on the Moon? You know NOTHING of such things. You mean a “pre-chute” Joe Stalin decided that being a communist dictator would
be most conducive to his growth? And God provided him with upwards of 25,000,000 souls willing to be his “victims.”? You try, but you fail miserably.

Nobody is happy, be nobody. That said applied spiritual living may not be easy but can be taken up on a very simple plane but also as a science depending on the mind of the observer. Some minds just need more challenging before it accepts some radical change. But it is like you say the more the effort and result will come. Especially nowadays because our dog eats dog world is in transition. He wil play games with you when you get there. When i was young i used to read a lot but never the Bible til i got an interest in archaeology. I was surprised of the knowledge it contains and how easy it can be applied to date periods. Treaties for instance. Accurately. Is the Bhagavita Gita superior to the Bible or Khuran? I think people 5000 thousand years ago were just a whole lot smarter than 2000 years ago. Its like the Bible says we are all invited. Nothing changed the last 2000 years. Only time is running out.
Separating our soul into mind and heart is a huge mistake.
You don’t have to dig your soul to reach the depths of it, just look and realize that your core awareness has only two functions and attributes:
1- We “see”, internally and externally, and have varying degrees of sight/vision.
2- We “seek”, gravitate towards things in varying degrees, you can name it loving.
Now both seeing and seeking are functions of the same soul so they are intertwined in interesting ways.
The “see” part is the domain that includes logic, intellect and intelligible, imagination and higher level witnessing, the pitfall here is Duality.
The “seek” part is the domain that involves intention and believing and the pitfall there is the infamous Freewill and Freedom.
The word for “mind” in Arabic is ذهن, this word and its derivatives have not been mentioned in Quran not even once, instead there are four words for heart! There are “mental idols” that have to be destroyed and “orphan concepts” that have to be saved.
There is a “mental idol” that is between see and seek functions of our soul and it is “Knowledge”; in this limited comment post we shall destroy it for good!

As one of the first “mental idols” to be destroyed, Knowledge is just like information, we can give it an intrinsic value and say Knowledge is the information that is true. However knowledge that is written in a book or recorded in an old tape-recorder is indistinguishable from knowledge that is just memorized in our “minds”! Here we are concerned with the use of knowledge rather than its essence.
Consider the following example:
1- I see it is raining. How? See with my eyes, feel it with my skin, hear the sound, etc…
2- I know it is raining. How? See with my eyes. Someone told me. I heard it in the news, etc…
3- I believe it is raining. How? See with my eyes. Someone I trust told me. I have a gut-feeling it is raining, etc…
With this simple example we can derive the four possibilities:
1- A knowledge that we can see/understand.
2- A knowledge that we can’t see/understand (Blind-Knowledge).
3- A belief that we can see/understand.
4- A belief that we can’t see/understand (Blind-Belief).
“I know!” – Does it mean I see? Or does it mean I haven’t got a clue but I have memorized it like an old tape-recorder!?
It becomes clear that as long as by “knowing” we do not imply “seeing”, it has very little value, to the contrary when we “believe” we are not just memorizing we are “trusting” or gravitating towards something! Therefore the main human function after the ability to see should be defined as “believing” or as I named it more aptly “seeking” because it is like a vector with a direction, it has motivation, intention and motion in it, in short it has life.
Blind-knowledge is not useless though, imagine 4 different methods to handle an unknown alien device written on 4 pieces of paper. One is saying push that particular button then wait for this many seconds and then pull that lever after a beep… etc… each paper has different instructions. If we assume only one makes the device work… we have to trust one of them before being able to use it and this shows that blind-knowledge is actually blindly-believing because as long as we pay no attention to it and not trust it, it is indistinguishable whether this information is in our minds or is written on a piece of paper even if we assume there is intrinsic value in the correct one.
Blind-belief has been bashed and ridiculed by many, yet the following example shows that anything but blind-belief would be a critical and irrational error. In fact we use blind-believing regularly:
You are sick, two of your close friends tell you to go see some particular doctor that they vouch for, there is also a certificate on the wall behind this doctor and he tells you to take such and such medicine and avoid a few things to get better. So you blindly-believe the doctor and do as he says and use his knowledge blindly. If you don’t, you have only one option and that is to spend many years and study the field to “see” for yourself! By the time though your immediate illness may have long killed you! Therefore blindly-believing here is a logical stance and not doing so would be stupid.
Another example: You know that zombies don’t exist but you still wouldn’t stay the night next to a dead body! Why? Because you don’t believe. Blind-Knowledge is not enough too move or motivate you. However believing whether blindly or with clarity has the power to move you and change you.
Now that we have logically defamed, ridiculed and destroyed the “idol of knowledge” and have brought back some respect to the orphan concept of “belief” we have the following possibilities, and it is important which comes first so we need to study all 6 of them:
1- We see and then believe. (what scientists and perhaps atheists would say though only with the material naked or enhanced eye)
2- We see and then don’t believe. (can only make sense when subject doubts his own sight, i.e. electron is a particle or wave?)
3- We don’t see and then don’t believe. (this one doesn’t make sense and can be crossed out, if we remove the word “then” it would be describing inanimate and lifeless objects)
4- We don’t see and believe. (Blind-belief that we explained, it can be good or bad depending on the context and situation, essential human motive to believe at least temporarily in search of any truth)
5- We believe and then see. (The promise of religion!)
6- We believe and then don’t see. (going astray!)
Among these options, the forth one is what any healthy human does in search of truth at least temporarily until truth is confirmed. The fifth one implies that one can decide willingly to believe and act upon it in the hope or promise that he will eventually see, this requires a good level of trust and love for the source of the information!
Now we have said that our soul at its core just see and seek, however it can become very complex as we move away and try to explain other attributes of our souls, specially becomes complex when these are translated into physical actions and relations in the temporal material world. >>> So people who demand “seeing in cash” all the time and are not willing to develop the conditions and attributes prerequisite for being able to see deeper truths are in fact stubborn morons! <<< Just look at the seed of a plant as a similitude and parable for this! It is under dirt sprouting and seeks out, once out it grows leaves and can see and benefit from the sun.
Now please read the following Quote in the light of what we said above:

What do we keep in mind? Memory, Knowledge? What about what we keep in our hearts? Nah just go the path of "see" and "seek" and you won't be lost.
The second part of the Quote is clear though.
Indeed the material world is a place of change, growth and decay or what can be described as temporal… ultimately we die, in fact the clock is ticking and slowly we are dying anyway, it is clear that attachment or love for such a world can only lead to a broken heart and is a kind of self-fooling, on the other hand our detachment from this world should not translate to drug abuse, suicide or living in a secluded cave, in those seemingly detaching actions we can detect a lot of attachments! We're going to be detached anyway just as a newborns' umbilical cord will be severed upon birth so beneficial detachment from world should be recognized and discovered while a harmful
one should be shunned.
This material/temporal world is a place of three things:
1- The things that we like but don't have. (i.e. latest car)
2- The things that we like and have, but they will be taken away from us. (i.e. getting old)
3- The things that we like and should not touch!
The first two are easy to understand, the third one can be easily understood by Logic of Pleasure with the following principles:
1- Only personal pleasure matters and every individual wants pleasure! : )
2- We should constantly identify, seek and strive for highest pleasures! : )
3- We should sacrifice lower pleasures for higher pleasures "if" they conflict. : (
The third principle ruins it for most people, this is where things get complicated! That third rule ultimately wants to make a warrior out of you. We may have to do hard work and sweat in order to achieve higher pleasures. In fact sometimes we have to pay upfront and rip the rewards much later! The motto "no pain no gain!” So we understand "the things that we like and we should not touch" part; a father tells his son, don't eat so much cake/sweets because in just 15 minutes the Kebab will be ready!!
Having established our relationship with the temporal world and having recognized our souls' core functions of seeing and seeking. We are armed to deal with a lot of confusion around us and we have a solid base to develop our understanding further.
Another nasty pitfall is duality and we have clarified that a few times before. We have clarified that there are four categories of duality and that Yin & Yang is stock at Duality in Opposition, we explained what Duality in Unity is and it was solid logical arguments.
