Let me tell you what occult is and the secrets that many think is the ultimate secret are no secret at all. It is Djinns coming to you and talking to you, being overwhelmed and bamboozled you will end up technically worshiping them thinking they are gods or manifestations of God or angels! Having an aunt who was my favorite aunt who had a breakdown, was diagnosed by shrinks for schizophrenia and who was given electric shock treatment, which probably made her worse, she continued ever after to hear voices when sitting or resting. She would resort to fantasy if put under stress in a controversy, but she had a good job, functioned very well and was very loving. As for the voices I once had a very experience when I was about 12 and she was babysitting. I could hear her from my bedroom in the living room that evening saying, “Shut up. Go away.” I started to feel very queasy like I was withdrawing from my own bearings. I got up and staggered into the hallway and fell down, powerless, and started shaking and I could hear voices very clearly which were not my own saying things like “You are going to die.” As soon as I said, “No, I am not.” they retreated. Since I have believed I was hearing what my aunt probably was hearing. I never heard them since and what I surmised years later in dealing with a few schizophrenic and bipolar people in my work is that what they hear is most likely not a product of their own minds or imaginations, but rather a result of some chemical or spiritual barrier which has broken down and which keep the boogies out.

We’re never too far removed from the demonic realm.
I don’t seek out or study any ‘esoteric’ influences, but at this age I do notice things.
E.g. grieving the loss of a loved one and staying up late many nights crying, my spirit got weakened to a point where things started going wrong on mundane/practical levels, often unexpectedly and inexplicably. Friends would borrow money and refuse to pay it back. Clients would go from happy and impressed to petty and difficult, for no apparent reason. Clearly, “something” sensed that I was in a vulnerable state and it was having a great time messing with my life.
Agreed re yoga, chakras, “Tibetan exercises”, twirling dervishes etc. etc.: It all sounds wonderful but once you dip your toe in, you will realize what a negative, ‘beastly’ energy you have invited into your system. Just taking a yoga class at a local gym when I was young would leave me with pounding migraines and a weird out-of-body feeling.
When I lived in Asia I had a Muslim friend whose father was a man of great integrity and honesty. People would come see the old man, sometimes bring a sick child with them and ask him to actually CLOSE, through a lot of prayer, the kid’s third eye because it was suffering a spiritual disturbance. But I also saw the opposite — folks practicing black magic; guys who at 65 looked 35. At the end of the day, we all must make a choice as to who we want to serve in life and whether we are ready to pay the price.
The commenters who reject the concept of spirituality without bothering with serious inquiry into the subject and yet strive to appear rational, open minded and tolerant remind me of people who are happy with their computer without any software whatever, because the analogy sticks quite tight.
