They suffer from envy. Douglas Reed said in The CONTROVERSY of ZION that they are strange in that they always hate – HATE – those who help them.
That looks like envy. jealousy, to me! I remember a psychologist saying
“If you want to make an enemy for life, do someone a favour.” Envy eats at one in a most horrible way – like acid in the soul. Horrible. It takes humility to get to see and understand that one may be envious because such people cannot bear to think that they are inferior in any way – so they make a big thing of pretending to be superior! And endlessly elling themselves that they are superior. That is in spite of all the evidence!
In Buddhism there are layers of kinds of beings: there are the Gods – who are too comfortable and arrogant to care about getting enlightened, and next are the Jealous Gods who are consumed with jealousy so they are unable to get enlightened, and also are arrogant, and then there is the Human realm which is the only realm in which one can become enlightened and they say that it is unblievably fortunate to be born as a human being and as rare as a turtle coming to the surface of the Ocean every o ne hundred thousand years, accidentally!
Below the human realm is the animal in which beings are trapped in a state of ignorance – and then the lowest realm is the hell realm in whihc the poor beings are too miserable to be able to think of enlightenment at all
So being human is extraodinarily fortunate – and those in the Jealous God Realm are not human!
