Hard Times Breed Strong Men

People suggest that post-COVID-19 we will once more emerge into the sunshine land of mass migration, low wages, cheap foreign labour, and the meaningless gluttony of consumerism, only this time our taxes will be higher, our children will be poorer, and our governments, staffed with hostile elites, will have more powers of surveillance and coercion than at any time in history.
That might well be true. But I suspect that there will also be some upsides even if, or maybe especially if, the lock-down is followed by a prolonged and severe economic crisis. Many economists are forecasting a depression worse than that of the early 1030s. But as we know an economist’s forecast is about as useful as an ashtray on a bicycle.
I take heart from what I see as a new sense of community and (there was a time when I’d have been dismayed by this) a growing suspicion of ‘the other’. The virus is seen, correctly of course, as a manifestation of globalism and at a subconscious level we’re going to look less favourably at the army of freeloaders swarming into our countries. And when there’s a general shortage of money, when people have to go without that which they had come to expect, they’ll be less inclined to fork out for ungrateful black and brown asylum-seekers. Also expect the same forces to operate against financing the swarms of NGOs and ‘human rights’ organisatipons which currently live high on the hog by leeching off the productive population. And pressure will surely come on publicly-funded media stations. Expect, or at least pray for, a license-payers’ revolt against the likes of the BBC and RTE. What a day it would be were they cut loose and left fend for themselves.
The big payoff though could be in the field of third-level indoctrination education. This report refers to the ‘existential threat’ they now face. “Colleges across the country are trying to figure out whether they can reopen campus this fall. Right now, it’s a 50/50 shot. No one knows, and with a second virus wave looming later this year, face-to-face classes might not be seen until early 2021. Ted Mitchell, president of the American Council on Education, said reopening colleges could be a drawn-out process and lead to a 15% decline in students, resulting in billions of dollars lost for schools. The transition to virtual classes has been epic.” Add in the enthusiasm with which home schooling has been taken up by large numbers of households and these gulags could indeed be in for rocky times. How I’d love to see an ex-academic sitting on the sidewalk holding a sign saying ‘WILL CONDESCEND FOR FOOD’.
In a more general sense people will focus on more basic priorities. Expect hungry productive workers to cast a cold eye on make-up affirmative action jobs for Hussein and Sh’aniqua. Race hucksters will find it tough going. Expect jobs for ‘graduates’ in Lesbian Dance Theory or Queer Studies to be in short supply. People will be less indulgent of proposals for small kids to be subjected to drag-queen programming.
Remember the old adage:
Hard times breed strong men
Strong men breed good times
Good times breed weak men
Weak men breed hard times
We’re on the last line. Let’s hope we quickly transition back to the first.

This article is full of prejudices and stereotypes. It won’t be like the 1930s. People weren’t burning down 5G masts in the 1930s, the sheeple aren’t poor in the sense they were in 1929, and even though they are sheeple, they won’t put up with 1930s conditions. Remember, the 1930s was a US/UK thing. The Chinese will always have food because Russia is the new global breadbasket. This depression is all about controlled change. They will turn the screw just enough to get the changes they want. Don’t fall for this fake history rubbish that in 1928 everyone was stinking rich and rolling around in money. It was like now, lots of people living on debt or the breadline with an elite holding so much money they didn’t know what to do with it. Jamie Oliver has lost most of his business empire, but he can afford to make multi-million-pound alterations to his £6 million pound property & Oliver isn’t even in the seriously wealthy bracket.
The going rate for a hospital chief executive is £250,000; no medical knowledge experience required. The present generation of national and local civil servants contain a good percentage of arrogant, overpaid half-wits. The past few years has seen things getting worse with this politically correct minority lording it over the majority
I am 82 and have seen successive governments betray the British people. It hasn’t just been Labour. I still think Edward Heath was the worst Prime Minister of my lifetime.
I hope to live long enough to see the British people get off their knees and throw these people out. I would start at the BBC.
I applaud john kirbys statement above, apologists say Edward Heath may have been the worst PM we had since churchill but he was too busy chasing small boys in Barnardos homes to run the country too.
The tide is turning the mass of labour voters who said they would lave the party if the Millipede brothers were parachuted in from abroad to put their feet all over a british piltical party, showed British people want British politicans
Excellent insight/perspective. I truly hope it goes as you your article depicts. My conclusion is that different races and ethnics with extreme differences in believes, views ,customs, priorities etc do not see eye to eye in most things – thus conflict exists at any given situation when there is multiculturalism. So, nationalism is best for a indispensable for a strong sense of community- there is nationalism, patriotism, security and so on.
We can view through a lenses – that homogeneous countries are stronger, almost free of conflict in a daily life- eg Japan, South Korea etc.
Further, even the occupied land is passing laws all the time to be a homogeneous setting, even though they are the only ones pushing for diversity in every ares to other peoples’s nations.
What a travesty!
‘Many economists are forecasting a depression worse than that of the early 1030s.’………..WOW!! That bad?? You’ll be reciting Monty Pythons Holy Grail next with the ‘Bring out your dead’ scene!!
I Am 83 years old and I will second what john Kirby said, about the hospital executive’s it is true what you say, they still know nothing and I will say also that it includes some doctors too, because I worked in the University College Hospital in Gower Street I even heard a couple of them asking a nurse’s Opinion, at the moment I have Prostate Cancer but I have no Intention of being murdered by Chemo or Radio Therapy that is why I am treating it myself with Tibbeton Mushroom and after six years I am still alive and still going strong after reducing it by quite a Big margin, but there is a ways to go yet, but I am happy that I got six years that I would not have had,.As for most of the politicians, they are a bunch of Gutless wankers with Just Empty Rhetoric, America had only One good man but they could not keep him alive, John F Kennedy was his name, all of us have been born into a world of Lies, because even during this Virus they are still lying to the whole wide world, so I think that when this Virus is over the Whole World must get off its Knees and say like the man in network, “we are all as mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore,”
