A musician who has been living in Bristol has been found guilty of holding four women prisoner and raping them.

Andy Anokye – also known by his stage name of Solo 45 – has been found guilty of 30 out of 31 serious sexual assault charges.

During a four-month trial, the jury heard he waterboarded and raped his victims, filming them crying and in pain as they begged him to stop, with the jury forced to watch some of the disturbing footage.

The court was told Solo 45 wanted to play a “rape game”, with one victim saying the abuse was so bad, she wanted to die.

Guilty of 21 rapes

After 10 hours and 55 minutes of deliberation, a jury has today (Wednesday, March 11) found him guilty of:

  • 21 rapes
  • Five charges of false imprisonment
  • Two charges of actual assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Two charges of assault by penetration

He was found not guilty of one charge of rape.

The charges relate to four different women, who must remain anonymous for legal reasons.

The musician has been on trial at Bristol Crown Court since November 21.

It was the third attempt at a trial to bring Anokye to justice.

His first trial was stopped in April 2018 because of legal reasons.

The second trial was stopped in February 2019, when some 90,000 images were found in a computer folder and needed to be assessed by counsel.
