Iraqis march in ‘millions’ to call for expulsion of US troops

The ‘Independent‘ initially reported that “thousands” marched in Baghdad in protest against the continued U.S. military presence in the country. A few hours later it became apparent that many more that a “few thousand” took part.
Some estimated that as many as two and a half million marched. Why such a big difference?
Are the corporate media doing what they did with Saddam Hussein’s weapons of Mass Destruction? Remember how we were fed a steady stream of reports speculating about Saddam’s WMD? They all turned out to entirely baseless but they were used to pave the way for the Iraq invasion.
Is something similar happening here? Is the Western media actively trying to play down the extent of opposition to the presence of Western military forces in the country? Just as it once tried to exaggerate the threat posed by Saddam’s non-existent WMD? Ed.

Iraqis march in ‘millions’ to call for expulsion of US troops

Press TV – Jan 24, 2020

Iraqis have rallied in Baghdad in massive numbers to call for an end to US military presence in the country following high-profile assassinations and airstrikes targeting anti-terror forces.

Sayed Sadiq al-Hashemi, the director of the Iraqi Center for Studies, said more than 2.5 million took part in the demonstrations on Friday.

Since the early hours on Friday, huge crowds of men, women and children of all ages converged on the Jadriyah neighborhood near Baghdad University.

The protesters were seen carrying banners and chanting slogans calling for the expulsion of US forces.

“Get out, get out, occupier!” some shouted, while others chanted, “Yes to sovereignty!”

Iraq’s al-Ahd news network reported that Iraqis from all of the country’s provinces had gathered in the city.

On January 5, the Iraqi parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution calling for the expulsion of all foreign forces after the US assassination of Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani and his Iraqi trenchmate Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The massive rally came after influential cleric Muqtada al-Sadr called on Iraqis to stage “a million-strong, peaceful, unified demonstration to condemn the American presence and its violations”.

Sadr issued a statement on Friday calling for US bases to be shut down and Iraqi airspace closed to US warplanes and surveillance aircraft.

He warned that US presence in the country will be dealt with as an occupying force if Washington does not agree with Iraqi demands to withdraw for the country.

In a message delivered through a representative at Friday prayer in the holy city of Karbala, top cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani also urged Iraqi political groups to do what is needed to the safeguard the country’s sovereignty.

He called on Iraqi groups to stand united, far from any foreign influence in countering the dangers which threaten the country.

On Thursday ahead of the planned rallies, Sadr called on Iraqis to mobilize and defend the country’s independence and sovereignty.

“Oh women, men and youth of the country, the time is now upon us to defend the country, its sovereignty and dependence,” Sadr said in a tweet.

“Spread the word of an independent future Iraq that will be ruled by the righteous; an Iraq which will not know of corruption nor aggression” he added, calling on Iraqis to expel the “tyrants”.

Various Iraqi resistance groups affiliated with the country’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) have also backed the anti-American rally.

‘Zero hour in face-off with US’

Speaking to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel, Jaafar al-Husseini, a spokesman for the PMU-affiliated Kata’ib Hezbollah resistance group, said “other means” will be used against the Americans if they do not leave Iraq.

The American presence, he said, has led to corruption and instability in the country.

In an interview with Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Firas al-Yasser, a member of the political bureau of Iraq’s Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, said Friday’s rallies marked “a new chapter” in the Arab country’s relations with the US.

He said Iraqi resistance groups support the stance of the country’s clerical leadership, which does not tolerate Washington’s “theory of dependence and humiliation” of Iraq.

“We believe we have reached the zero hour in facing off with the US,” he said.

Yasser added that Iran’s missile attack on the Ain al-Assad base in the western Iraqi province of Anbar earlier this month was a “prelude” to the expulsion of US forces from the country.

Qais al-Khazali, leader of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, which is part of the PMU, described Friday’s rallies as a “second revolution” a century after the Great Iraqi Revolution of 1920 against British forces.

  1. more and more folk want the US bases out of their countries
the US only freind in the world is slowly coming to this too

  2. Quite right Norman the UK saw marches in every town and city
some towns closed down for all the people to march to say NO WAR ON THE PEOPLE IN IRAQ but they still sent our soldiers against the wishes of the people, admittedly a lot of soldiers with a conscience did refuse to go.
for those that did disobey the people, many were cast out by freinds and family
a lot of these men ended up living on the streets
    and rightly so

  3. 6 Million Iraqis march to call for expulsion of US terrorists

    Across the world we hear:
    Yankee Go Home!

XPress TV – No less than 6 million Iraqis have rallied in Baghdad to call for an end to US terrorist presence in the country following high-profile assassinations and airstrikes targeting anti-terror forces.

El Sadiq al-Salami, the director of the Iraqi Center for Protest Studies, said exactly 6 million took part in the demonstrations on Friday. He added that anybody who says, writes or tweets about the possibility of there being less than 6 million protesters, will be labeled a Protest Denier and will be sent to the front to help kick out the invaders.

“Get out, get out, Boloch worshipers!” some shouted, while others chanted, “Shove your fake democracy all the way up your stinking arse-nal!”

  4. This is how the Jews create hate, yet ironically, through the ADL, call out others for it.

If you’re in the US (or any EU) armed forces and you don’t realise you’re nothing but the puppet of Jews, fighting in the Middle East for them, then you’re not just ignorant, but stupid, considering there are videos and articles galore, on the Internet (and even YouTube regardless of its ‘truth’ purging of late)

The US military are very much unwanted in every land they’re in, nothing but occupying forces. And the more lands they occupy and the longer they remain, the more hated they are. I get tired of listening to the squaddie state: “we’re there putting our lives on the land to protect them” when it’s BS! They invaded their lands. They killed their nation. They created widows and orphans. They murdered their leaders. They installed private banks and forced their country into debt, as was the plan all along.

Sadly, Kevin above is correct in stating returning soldiers were hated by many of the people and rightly so. If we condone their actions we condone murder.
It just saddens me, greatly, to see the USA, change in the last 30 years, from a nation loved and respected, to being the hated nation it is today.

  5. Like in most other nations, the American people have also been deliberately debt rigged and exploited in so many insidious ways, and it all started by letting foreign money (even to the Rockefellers) take over their financial system – along with the media, most major industries, and the political system. What has happened all throughout the 20th century is the fragmentation of the people by the deliberate replacing the foundations to their core principles with a materialistic, hedonistic secularism, making it a nation where money is the fiat of God, and God is whomever controls and makes the money out of nothing. Masonic theological relativism entails moral relativism which entails social fragmentation, and more control for the ruling cabal. The only way a healthy pluralism can be maintained is with a strong spiritual foundation as a basis for the core principles, from which various cultural differences can flourish.

The TS post the other day by Vanessa Beeley “The REAL terrorists – death is not a laughing matter and murder is a crime”, is ample proof of the witting and unwitting subservience of most Americans to their evil masters. The cabal puppets like Bush and Clinton joke to the public about their massive public deceptions and their murderous atrocities. They truly believe they can do anything in the world they want because of their military power, and then put the thinnest veil of lies over their deeds without a care in the world of who sees right through it. It goes way beyond the ignorance of any emperor who has been tricked by an evil taylor into buying an invisible suit. Bush joking about his own fakerly regarding WMD’s which was his nation’s justification to slaughter and displace millions of Iraqis, epitomizes the absolute corruption of the nation and the arrogant, condescending and exploiting sociopaths who run it. Americans for the most part and their leaders simply do really not care anymore who sees what and why they do the things they do. Their view of world politics is that they can simply take what they want, and if anyone gets in their way they will destroy them. They have the power so they must be in the right.

All they have to do in their planning is determine what they want, and then justify it down the chain of command on the basis that they “need” it, and from there their underlings simply create any convenient lie or diversion necessary to cover it. But the evil is not just in the flimsy see-though negligees they use on one hand to placate the more innocent citizens who in denial and who think it improper to gaze at the real intentions of their rulers, and on the other which transparency they use to seduce their corrupt supporters into the honey pots of their real desires. No, those means are only the signs of a much larger evil, which is the unchecked abuse of power and wealth based on the fundamental core value or principal of the Masons and the Rothschild cartel that “Might and Money Make Right”, which they use to justify whatever they can get away with.

With their pluralistic and moral relativism they have neutralized, eradicated, and replaced the true God of our civilization, and have usurped the birthright to our nations, our self-determination, our freedoms, our integrity, our sense of universal justice and fair play, and our duties to God and to our neighbors. But the world wakes up and realizes that nothing the Americans say or promise can really be trusted. All that can anymore be trusted is that the US has become the greatest exploiter and punderer in the history of the world, and the only way for another nation to find peace and prosperity by using their own resources and efforts, is simply to cease dealing with the US and nations which support their exploits and their methods.

  6. What the Jew-S-A has done in Iraq, Syria, Libya, etc etc, has been grossly illegal and shockingly immoral. The citizens of any country invaded by an aggressor, its people murdered, maimed, raped, its assets looted, its infrastructure destroyed, have a right, a duty actually, to do everything they can to destroy the invaders. Related to what Kevin and Harbinger mention above, returning soldiers should absolutely be hated and mocked for the crimes in which they were willing accomplices if not active perpetrators. Instead, there is some bizarre and revolting adulation of those knuckle-dragging monsters, a shocking and disgusting “support the troops” no matter if they’re criminals psychosis.

I have always felt a lot of sorrow, even some anger, for the way soldiers returning from Vietnam were treated for so long, literally having people spit in their faces and being called butchers. The thing is, those guys were DRAFTED, forced into the military and not given a choice. These days, it’s an all-volunteer military, with everyone WILLINGLY signing up to murder, rape, and pillage for the glory of corporate profit, Israel, and destruction for the sale of destruction. It is morally repugnant and it is this current generation of “soldiers” who should be shamed in the streets and whose faces should be spit in. I have known a lot of military people coming back from deployment disillusioned because they didn’t know for what they were actually fighting. They should have thought about that BEFORE they were dumb or deluded enough to sign up in the first place.
