Climate activist Greta Thunberg has become embroiled in a Twitter spat with a German rail company after she posted a picture of herself sitting on the floor of one of their trains surrounded by bags.
Ms Thunberg was sitting on the floor on the train as she passed through Germany on Saturday on her way back from the COP25 climate summit in Madrid to her home in Sweden.
The 16-year-old posted a tweet on Saturday with a picture of herself sitting on the floor with the comment: “Traveling on overcrowded trains through Germany. And I’m finally on my way home!”

But German railway operator Deutsche Bahn, who has come under fire in recent years for delays, last-minute train cancellations and expensive ticket fares, replied to the teenager’s tweet refuting her claim and saying she in fact had a seat in first class.
“It would have been even nicer if you had also reported how friendly and competently our team served you at your seat in first class,” the company’s tweet said

Ms Thunberg later tweeted the fact she did not at first sit in a seat, and her post was not meant as a knock against Deutsche Bahn, who also tweeted to thank the teenager for her support, pointing out the train she was on had been running 100% on eco-friendly electricity.
The teenager wrote: “Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen I got a seat.This is no problem of course and I never said it was. Overcrowded trains is a great sign because it means the demand for train travel is high!”

Ms Thunberg has spent months travelling by trains and boats to different climate events in Europe and the US after vowing not to fly.
The teenager, who was recently named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for her efforts to prod governments and others to take faster actions in fighting climate change, is not the first person in the public eye to have a spat with a train company over seats – or a lack of them.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn became embroiled in ‘traingate‘ after he tweeted a picture of himself sitting on the floor of the vestibule of a Virgin train.
He was pictured hunched on the carriage floor of a three-hour Virgin Trains service between London and Newcastle reading a newspaper.
In the accompanying post, he said: “This is a problem that many passengers face every day”, before calling for re-nationalisation of the railways.
But Virgin Trains later released counter CCTV footage which appeared to show Mr Corbyn and his team walking past empty, unreserved seats before the filming began.
In MY youth, I would have been more than happy to sneak a free ride on the roof of the train!
At least I believed my parents when they told me I had it relatively easy. (My father was born to a midwife in a sharecropper’s cabin, in a particularly broke area of SC in 1931. My father, who fought in Korea made damn certain that I and my brother knew just how lucky we were to avoid Vietnam.

This poor kid should urgently consult a child psychiatrist to answer some crucial underlying psychiatric questions, the poor kid is obviously severely deranged, and her over exposer to Global media, instead of playing, and interacting with kids her age, is making the problem worse by the day. It is surprising though that in a country like Sweden, her parents have not yet been arrested for child neglect. and child abuse.

Honestly Greta couldn’t give a hoot what the train management said as all she wants to do is get home and think about what she’ll buy on the net with all that undisclosed loot, these are the statements of handlers that’s very obvious.
At her age we were hitchhiking up the coast to chase waves and here’s a taste of the good life.
We would travel in groups of about four or five with boards and packs. Well no one would give us a ride naturally, so we worked out that if one stood on the side of the road and the rest hid we could surprise the driver by jumping out of the bush when they stopped playing on their guilt. They were very crowded rides up the coast but we always got there.
Anyway years later when the grommets(next generation) tried it and we had cars we would pull up and say, geggar want a lift, oh yeah good one champ would come the reply. Well sucked in you can’t have one and we’d drive off leaving their middle fingers in the revision mirror.

What these idiots and propagandists don’t want us to understand is that electric vehicles create not less, but MORE pollution. The difference is that whereas conventionally-fuelled transport creates it’s pollution directly, electricity generation happens “somewhere else”, making it less immediately visible.
There are unavoidable losses every time energy is converted from one form to another, losses from supply lines, and further losses every time said electricity is “processed” in some way, such as being changed to a different voltage.
Electric vehicles may SEEM less polluting because we don’t see the exhaust gases, but their use actually creates MORE pollution at the remote site creating that electricity.
Where is my comment concerning the photo as being a station station office area photoshop? If she is on a moving train, her backpack and beige satchel would have fallen off her main luggage suitcases.
