Jerusalem Post – Aug 9, 2019

As the Jewish world is counting the days to the ninth of Av (Tisha Be’Av), the date on which Jews mourn the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem following its destruction by the Romans, foxes have been spotted walking near the Western Wall, a press release reported on Thursday.

It is written in the Book of Lamentations (5:18), which is read on Tisha Be’Av, that Mount Zion – where the Temples stood – will be so desolate that “foxes will walk upon it.” The understanding, according to the Talmud in the tractate Makkot (24b), is that if the prophecies of destruction have been fulfilled, so will be the ones by the prophet Zechariah about the Temple being rebuilt.

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, referred to photos of the foxes and commented, “One cannot refrain from crying at the site of the fulfillment of the prophecy of ‘foxes will walk on it.’”

Some might see foxes near the Mount of Zion as something to celebrate, as they view it as the fulfilment of an ancient prophecy about the rebuilding of the Third Temple in Jerusalem. While others see is rather more realistically and more ominously too.
There is already a growing movement in Israel and elsewhere campaigning for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. This involves not only Jews, but also so-called “Christian Zionists”. Some even believe that President Trump has been “chosen” by God to help rebuild the Temple on the Mount.
Exploiting the naiveté and gullibility of these misguided “Christians” are cynical militant Zionists, who see the rebuilding of the Third Temple as a means to use America’s military power to destroy Israel’s enemies once and for all. Thereby initiating the expansion of a “Greater Israel“.
Crucially, the above report does not mention that the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem would require the demolition of the Al Aqsa mosque, which sits on the same site.
The Al Aqsa mosque is Islam’s third holiest site. Can you imagine the global uproar that would ensue if U.S. and Israeli bulldozers began knocking down the mosque? Or if it were to collapse in on itself in a controlled demolition like the World Trade Center towers did on 9/11?
It is a recipe for global conflagration.
As outlandish as this might seem this scenario is now becoming a very real possibility, as the movement to rebuild the Third Temple is gaining momentum. Ed.
