<\/a>A Satanic Black Mass reenactment is scheduled to take place at the Queen\u2019s Head Pub in Memorial Hall at Harvard University on May 12, with the Mass performed by The Satanic Temple, which is being hosted for the event by the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n A non-consecrated communion host will be used in the reenactment, according to Lucien Greaves, spokesman for The Satanic Temple.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhile Black Masses are supposed to utilize a consecrated host, ours is merely representative of a consecrated host,\u201d Greaves told CNSNews.com. \u00a0\u201cIt is not consecrated. We neither believe in nor invoke the supernatural.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTo us, the Black Mass is an amalgamation that developed through time based on witch-hunting fears and later adopted by some as a declaration of personal Independence against what they felt to be the stifling authority of the church,\u201d said Greaves.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n He further said that during the Black Mass reenactment, representatives of The Satanic Temple will provide narration on the academic and historical aspects of a Satanic Mass.<\/span><\/p>\n Flyer advertising the Satanic Black Mass at Harvard. Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n A flyer with an image of a goat-headed, Satanic figure standing on an altar surrounded by damned souls was posted at the Harvard campus announcing the event.\u00a0 It states that the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is hosting \u201ca reenactment of a satanic black mass performed by The Satanic Temple ** with commentary and historical context **.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The flyer further says the Mass will occur on May 12 at 8:30PM in the Queen\u2019s Head Pub in Memorial Hall, and that admission is free.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The Harvard Extension Hub, part of the Harvard Extension School, provides information on \u201cschool news, blogs, stories & events,\u201d and it posted an \u201cOfficial Response to Cultural Studies <\/strong><\/span>Event<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u201d on May 7 about the Black Mass on its website.\u00a0 (The Harvard Extension <\/strong><\/span>Schoo<\/strong><\/span>l<\/strong><\/span> <\/a>is Harvard University\u2019s primary resource for continuing education courses.)<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cofficial response\u201d states, \u201cAn independent student organization, the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club, plans to host a controversial student event\u00a0involving a historical reenactment of a black mass <\/span><\/strong><\/span>ceremony<\/strong><\/span><\/a> <\/strong><\/span>that has a narrator providing historical context and background.<\/span><\/p>\n Lucien Greaves, spokesman for The Satanic Temple; note the subtle closing of one eye. But we do support the rights of our students and faculty to speak and assemble freely.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn this case, we understand that this independent student organization, the Cultural Studies Club, is hosting a series of events\u2014including a Shinto tea ceremony, a Shaker exhibition, and a Buddhist presentation on meditation\u2014as part of a student-led effort to explore different cultures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The Queen\u2019s Head Pub is in Memorial <\/span><\/strong><\/span>Hall<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, which is at \u201cthe heart of Harvard\u2019s campus\u201d and was \u201cdedicated in 1878 as a monument to Harvard alumni who died during the Civil War,\u201d it states on its Facebook page. The Hall was completed in 1876, and the Queen\u2019s Head Pub was built in the Hall\u2019s basement in 2007. Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n The Satanic Temple, which is scheduled to perform the reenactment Black Mass, is the same group that is trying to have a statue of<\/strong><\/span> Satan<\/strong><\/span><\/a> (depicted as \u201cBaphomet\u201d) installed on the grounds of the Oklahoma State Capitol.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Concerning the \u201cchild-friendly\u201d Satan statue, Greaves told CNSNews.com, “Our monument will stand in honor of those unjustly accused, the slandered minority, the maligned out-groups, so that we might pay respect to their memory and celebrate our progress as a pluralistic nation founded on secular law.”<\/span><\/p>\n Source <\/a><\/a> Participants say they “neither believe in nor invoke the supernatural”. So why are they ‘re-enacting’ a satanic mass?
