The recent attack on Free Gaza\u2019s Greta Berlin<\/span><\/a> and Colonel <\/span>Ann Wright<\/span><\/a>\u00a0suggest that we have crossed\u00a0a red line — Jewish domination within the Palestinian solidarity movement belongs to the past.\u00a0We are now, it seems,\u00a0under Zionist occupation, and\u00a0we are subject to all the symptoms of Israeli abuse and Zionist brutality.<\/h5>\n
The expulsions,\u00a0 the exclusions and the\u00a0cleansings that are inherent\u00a0within Zionism<\/span><\/a>, Israeli and Jewish politics, are now alive and kicking within the Palestinian solidarity movement itself. On a daily basis we are notified\u00a0about more and more people who \u2018must be\u2019 expelled from the \u2018movement\u2019: earlier this year we learned that\u00a0the\u00a0Palestinian poet and writer\u00a0Nahida Izzat<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 had first been\u00a0harassed and\u00a0later\u00a0expelled from her local Palestinian solidarity group by a Liverpool Jewish activists’ gang.\u00a0Next,\u00a0 <\/span>Dr Francis Clark Lowes<\/span>,<\/a> former Chairman of the UK PSC was expelled from the organisation, for allegedly being an \u2018Anti Semite\u2019 and a \u2018holocaust denier\u2019. Norman Finkelstein<\/span>,<\/a> probably the leading pro Palestinian Jewish scholar, has also been subjected to repeated smears and\u00a0 attempts at character assassination\u00a0for voicing some legitimate criticisms re BDS being a cult, and recently, the greatly admired Greta Berlin, co-founder of Free Gaza, has also been subjected to harassment and abuse in the last few weeks. Berlin was labeled ‘an anti Semite’ and ‘a Holocaust Denier’ — and yet,\u00a0up until the present time, there has not been a shred of\u00a0 evidence\u00a0provided by her detractors\u00a0to support such accusations.\u00a0 And now, the\u00a0respected peace activist Colonel Ann Wright has also been ‘purged’, and\u00a0expelled from the current attempt to break the siege on Gaza —\u00a0simply\u00a0 for being associated with Mrs Berlin. \u00a0The pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim<\/span><\/a> is also subject to a BDS\u00a0 boycott. And six months ago I too,\u00a0faced a call for a disavowal —\u00a0by people who were foolish enough to confess that they\u00a0had not\u00a0even read a single line of my work.<\/h5>\n
The message here is clear \u2013 some elements within the Palestinian solidarity movement have obviously adopted the most repellent and brutal\u00a0Zionist symptoms, and we are now\u00a0engaged, caught up\u00a0in, and beset by\u00a0a sinister series of expulsions, purges, crude witch hunts, exclusions, smears, character\u00a0defamations\u00a0and cleansings.<\/h5>\n
Palestinian Authority\u2013 The Palestinian authority was formed by Israel in order to \u2018maintain order\u2019 within the occupied territories. We are fully aware of the PA\u2019s difficult and problematic role in Palestine —\u00a0but in recent years we have also become familiar with a new type of exilic Palestinian \u2018authority\u2019:\u00a0I refer here to those few Palestinians who are\u00a0in place\u00a0to maintain the solidarity movement as ‘a Kosher haven’. In the last six months, some exiled Palestinians have been involved in numerous\u00a0 \u2018targeted character\u00a0assa<\/span>ssinations<\/span><\/a>\u2019 of\u00a0some of our most valued\u00a0leading activists and scholars. In the last month we saw Solidarity activists openly joining forces and collaborating with the darkest Zionist forces against Greta Berlin<\/span>,<\/a> Ann Wright, Ken O\u2019Keefe<\/span><\/a>, Norman Finkelstein,\u00a0 and myself amongst others.<\/h5>\n
Segregation \u2013 Like in occupied Palestine (or \u2018apartheid\u2019 Israel, if you prefer), the solidarity movement is now clearly\u00a0a segregated society: we can\u00a0 witness a clear division between the ‘Jews only’ groups (racially driven and tribally oriented), and the ‘Palestinians only’ groups (ethnically segregated).\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0then there is the general solidarity activist network,\u00a0 that still insists to promote those\u00a0consistent\u00a0humanist values and goals of\u00a0inclusivity and universality that\u00a0it\u00a0it has always\u00a0upheld.<\/h5>\n
Espionage \u2013Recent Jewish \u2018progressive\u2019 campaigns against Berlin and Colonel Wright have proved that, like Hasbara agents and Mossad, some of the so-called \u2018anti\u2019 Zionist Jewish organisations within our movement have been spying and track<\/span>ing<\/span><\/a> our moves, our\u00a0private life, and\u00a0 even our\u00a0social network activity<\/span><\/a>. They also use Hasbara disinformation and spin tactics in order to ruin the names of those who \u2018got too close to the bone\u2019 i.e. criticising Jewish power.<\/h5>\n
I have been monitoring these Hasbara tactics for more than a while and\u00a0I have seen these tactics being used by some marginal Sayanim individuals within the movement. But I was slightly disappointed to find out that slander, smear and abuse are now\u00a0increasingly openly used by leading solidarity outlets such as Mondoweiss and Electronic Intifada.<\/h5>\n

The Verdict Is Clear<\/h2>\n

The Verdict Is Clear : we are not a \u2018solidarity\u2019 movement anymore,\u00a0for\u00a0we\u00a0have become\u00a0foreign to the notion of solidarity as well as empathy.\u00a0<\/h5>\n
But this is not necessarily\u00a0entirely bad news. Being subject to vile Zionist occupation, we had\u00a0better urgently\u00a0be in solidarity with ourselves — for we are all Palestinians now. We are abused by Israel, by\u00a0its Sayanim, and by\u00a0their collaborators.\u00a0<\/h5>\n
I guess that we had\u00a0better liberate ourselves first. And such an aspiration\u00a0would certainly give\u00a0the\u00a0concept\u00a0of Palestinian resistance a new meaning and dimension.<\/h5>\n
