We brought more capabilities into operation in proportion to the intensity of the war, and we are also prepared for the next stage,” he added.

Rezaei also noted that Iran has spent decades preparing for a broader war by the United States, focusing on dispersed production, underground facilities, different launch systems and the ability to repair damage and replace losses.

He further emphasized that the military strength should not be assessed solely by the number of missiles remaining in storage.

“In a prolonged war, the central question is whether a country can sustain a continuous cycle of production, deployment and response. We have shown that, even months after the war began, we can still impose costs on the other side,” he asserted.

“Our goal is not to make it to 2029. Our goal is to end the war on terms that reduce the likelihood of another war.”

Meanwhile, the SNSC chief warned that governments should not assume they can participate in economic warfare against Iran without putting themselves at risk.

“There can be no arrangement in which Iran’s economic lifelines come under attack while the economic architecture enabling those attacks is considered untouched and immune,” he pointed out.

The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.

In both wars, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.

In July, the US conducted waves of deadly air raids on Iran and imposed a naval blockade of the country in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, signed on June 17, to end the war.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces launched devastating strikes against strategic American targets across West Asia and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all traffic, sending energy prices soaring worldwide.

Rezaei said the war-termination deal failed because the commitments were implemented in the wrong order.

“We opened the Strait and maritime traffic resumed, but the other side’s political and economic commitments were not implemented in a way that could sustain the agreement,” he continued.

Moreover, he said that Iran will continue managing the Strait of Hormuz to maintain peace and security in the region, and we will not back down from its position.

Iran, he went on to say, will neither reopen the strategic waterway nor return to talks until the fulfillment of seven new conditions conveyed to the US through intermediaries.

Additionally, the top security official stressed that Tehran will not return to its previous approach to diplomacy but it will not abandon the diplomatic path either.

Also see:

Iran started receiving Russian Su-35 fighter jets

Source

These new military capabilities could include newly supplied Russian and Chinese weapons systems, which have yet to be unveiled.
