Iran has warned French President Emmanuel Macron that those behind \u201csinister alliances\u201d will eventually face the consequences of their own actions amid widespread unrest in France.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a Sunday post on X, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei criticized Macron for applying a double standard toward protests, contrasting his January support for \u201cpeaceful assembly without fear of punishment\u201d in Iran with his response to ongoing unrest in France.<\/p>\n \u201cBack in January, you prescribed \u2018peaceful assembly without fear of punishment\u2019 for those attacking our law enforcement centers and public institutions at the behest of foreign malign actors,\u201d Baghaei wrote, addressing Macron.<\/p>\n However, he added, Macron had quickly declared that the destruction of and attacks on state institutions in France would not be tolerated and that those responsible would face swift punishment.<\/p>\n The Iranian spokesman also recalled Macron\u2019s message to the US president before the US-Israeli war against Iran in late February, in which the French leader had said, \u201cWe can do great things on Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt soon became clear that your version of \u2018great things\u2019 meant aligning with a campaign of aggression and atrocities that eventually engulfed the region and the world,\u201d Baghaei emphasized.<\/p>\n In late December, protests erupted in Iran, fueled by mounting economic pressures and soaring prices.<\/p>\n On January 8th and 9th, the protests turned violent, spurred by overt foreign interference, most notably statements from US President Donald Trump, who had called on rioters to seize state institutions and topple the government.<\/p>\n According to the Iranian Judiciary\u2019s Media Center, widespread damage was inflicted upon the country, and thousands of innocent citizens and security forces were martyred.<\/p>\n In his post, Baghaei also said the cycle of crisis had now reached Macron\u2019s own doorstep.<\/p>\n Mr. Macron, Back in January, you prescribed “peaceful assembly without fear of punishment” for those attacking our law enforcement centers and public institutions at the behest of foreign malign actors. Yet now, facing unrest in your own Republic, you quickly declare that destruction and attacks on state institutions will not be tolerated and perpetrators will be swiftly punished. We have not forgotten how, prior to the aggression against Iran, you messaged the U.S. President: “We can do great things on Iran.” It soon became clear that your version of “great things” meant aligning with a campaign of aggression and atrocities that eventually engulfed the region and the world. Now that the cycle of crisis has knocked on your own door – and as the cry of “no kings” echoes across America – it might be wise to remember that history does not merely sit by the window opened by sinister alliances, watching the world burn.
