Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao (above) reportedly admitted that the Iranian military \u201cblew the hell<\/a>\u201d out of the U.S. naval base in Bahrain\u2014a shocking claim that contradicts the Trump administration\u2019s narrative of total destruction of Iran\u2019s attack capabilities.<\/p>\n

While the damage to the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters at Naval Support Activity Bahrain in a February 28 drone attack<\/a> has been well documented, Cao\u2019s Thursday comment to a reporter at the conservative outlet The Epoch Times<\/em> is perhaps the most vivid, sober analysis of the situation from an individual of his ranking.<\/p>\n

Cao also told The Epoch Times<\/em>\u2019 Ryan Morgan that Iran\u2019s attack left American forces unable to \u201cpull in\u201d the USS Abraham Lincoln<\/em>, the aircraft carrier that was at sea for months and ravaged<\/a> by reports of poor conditions and low morale.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a pretty stunning admission by the Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao, whose nomination is hung up in Congress, about how Iranian forces \u2018blew the hell out of (U.S. Navy\u2019s 5th Fleet base in) Bahrain,\u2019\u201d Fox News\u2019s Jennifer Griffin wrote<\/a>. \u201cHaven\u2019t heard a senior U.S. official admit this on the record until now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others noted the Iranian military capacity does not seem to be as depleted as Trump claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cA clear and particularly stark pattern we see in the war with Iran is that the Iranians are inflicting tremendous STRATEGIC damage with their missiles, but that the USG denies this at first and only admits it weeks, if not months, later. This creates a PROLONGED false impression that the war is going much better than it actually is and that strategic setbacks are not taking place at all,\u201d wrote<\/a> Trita Parsi of the Quincy Institute. \u201cThe media narrative was that Tehran was utterly failing. In reality, Tehran was showcasing capabilities that the official Western narrative ensured were underestimated.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about any plans to return to the U.S. base in Bahrain, Cao told the Times,<\/em> \u201cI have a task force that\u2019s looking at that.\u201d That\u2019s not what you want to hear in an expensive war that\u2019s going very poorly.<\/p>\n
