{"id":330289,"date":"2026-08-22T05:05:04","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T05:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=330289"},"modified":"2026-08-23T06:55:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T06:55:17","slug":"pentagon-says-over-750-us-troops-wounded-during-war-on-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=330289","title":{"rendered":"Pentagon says over 750 US troops wounded during war on Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Cradle \u2013 Aug 20, 2026<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>More than 750 US service members have been wounded since the US launched its war of aggression on Iran on 28 February, according to Defense Department casualty data updated on 19 August.<\/p>\n<p>The update added more than 50 wounded US soldiers to the Pentagon&#8217;s war casualty database, bringing the official total to 757 wounded and 18 killed.<\/p>\n<p>Those figures are drawn from two separate entries in the Pentagon&#8217;s Defense Casualty Analysis System, combining the totals listed under \u201cOverseas Operations\u201d with those recorded for Operation Epic Fury.<\/p>\n<p>The Defense Department created an Overseas Operations category last month in its casualty database for personnel killed or wounded from 7 July onward, separating those figures from casualties recorded under Operation Epic Fury.<\/p>\n<p>The 7 July cutoff aligns with the White House&#8217;s notification to Congress that a new war with Iran had begun.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon has not specified which war the Overseas Operations casualties relate to, nor where or how the personnel were killed or wounded, prompting further questions about the transparency of its reporting.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Intercept<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2026\/08\/04\/us-military-casualties-count-iran-war\/\">reported<\/a> on 4 August that the split came days after a wave of Iranian strikes on US facilities, and cited a US government official who called the new method \u201cdesigned to obscure the count\u201d and a \u201ccasualty cover-up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the report, the new page listed 273 killed or wounded since 7 July. Combined with the Epic Fury figures, the official total reached 704 \u2013 an 83 percent rise since the first ceasefire deal on 8 April.<\/p>\n<p>Counting casualties left out of the database,\u00a0<em>The Intercept<\/em> put the real number of US personnel killed or wounded in the war on Iran above 900.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet has documented repeated anomalies, including the Epic Fury count dropping from 500 on 21 July to 431 without explanation.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em> reported on 18 August that the Pentagon is reassessing its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thecradle.co\/articles\/pentagon-weighs-leaving-persian-gulf-after-iran-exposed-vulnerabilities-report\">military footprint<\/a> in Persian Gulf countries after months of losses inflicted by Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The central question is whether to pull troops back from the Gulf, where the largest US bases overseas have absorbed much of the Iranian retaliatory fire, with over 200 US facilities being damaged or destroyed since the war began in February.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Ratney, a former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, named Jordan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia&#8217;s Red Sea coast as possible destinations for relocated forces, though he acknowledged the added distance was no perfect fix, as Iranian missiles have already reached all three throughout the war on Iran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Cradle has hit one million readers monthly.
