Your support exceeded anything I could have imagined,\u201d she said. \u201cThe media pressure became international.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The activist claimed coverage of her case spread across Europe, the United States, and Japan, creating scrutiny that influenced the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of you, this absurd injustice was forced to back down,\u201d she said. \u201cThe moment we shine a light on what they are doing, they can no longer hide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Escufon announced that she will challenge the conviction despite the risk of a harsher sentence on appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have decided to appeal this conviction,\u201d she said. \u201cI could end up receiving a harsher sentence, but after everything you have done for me, I simply do not have the right to be cowardly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She argued that accepting the judgment would mean acknowledging wrongdoing where she believes she was raising legitimate public concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would mean admitting that I was wrong to speak out about what I believe threatens the French people,\u201d she said. \u201cIt would mean accepting a criminal record like an ordinary offender when my only crime was speaking out in what I believe was the publi interest.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\uf1eb\uf1f7French activist Tha\u00efs d\u2019Escufon faces prison for insulting migrants, even after she was sexually assaulted by one.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They want to send me to prison.
