Iran says termination of the Israeli war on Lebanon is an \u201cinseparable\u201d part of an agreement between Tehran and Washington to permanently end\u00a0the illegal US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.<\/strong><\/p>\n Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks during his weekly press briefing on Monday as American and Iranian officials confirmed that the two sides had\u00a0finalized\u00a0a memorandum of understanding (MoU), with a formal signing ceremony expected on Friday.<\/p>\n He said that the finalization of the Iran-US memorandum\u00a0that calls for ending the war on all fronts, including\u00a0in Lebanon, was the outcome of the Islamic Republic\u2019s resilience against two evil actors.<\/p>\n He added that the Zionist regime\u2019s crimes in Beirut\u2019s southern Dahiyeh suburb, which took place amid mounting efforts towards an agreement between Iran and the US, became a means to secure the national interests of Iran and Lebanon at a maximum level and made the Resistance Axis more united.<\/p>\n \u201cLebanon and the termination of the war in Lebanon are an inseparable part of the understanding on ending the [US-Israeli] war [on Iran]. We have shown that we are determined in this regard and have proven in practice that we are serious, and we will continue to monitor developments carefully in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe word Lebanon is used three\u00a0times in the understanding. It is mentioned that ending the war includes that in Lebanon and respecting the country\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n The spokesman also warned that the Zionist regime is not seeking peace in the region, emphasizing that the United States bears responsibility for any breach of promise by other parties to the agreement.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have no trust in the Zionist regime, just as we have no trust in the US. Meanwhile, we have our own tools. The United States must honor its commitments and ensure that the Zionist regime fulfills its obligation not to attack Lebanon. The obligations are corresponding and reciprocal,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n Additionally in his remarks, Baghaei said the MoU to end the war on all fronts was finalized\u00a0108 days after the imposed war began, in a situation where the other side in the worst possible terms claimed to have destroyed Iran’s infrastructure and civilization.<\/p>\n He\u00a0said the enemy\u2019s retreat is indicative of the Islamic Republic\u2019s deterrence power.<\/p>\n However, he added, \u201cthe Iranian nation’s suspicion of the long-standing acts of sabotage by the ruling US administration (which has its roots in historical events, including the 1953 [coup]) is so deep-rooted that the recent understanding is merely an initial step towards reducing tensions.\u201d<\/p>\n Baghaei also said the initiators of the war of aggression faced a defeat and heavy losses while the Iranian\u00a0nation proved that it would spare no sacrifice or resistance in the pursuit of its national dignity, independence, and sovereignty.<\/p>\n The US and the Israeli regime waged their first unlawful military assault against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second attack\u00a0began in late February and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.<\/p>\n In both wars, Iran’s brave resistance and successful retaliatory operations, as well as its powerful control of\u00a0the Strait of Hormuz, forced the enemies to accept a ceasefire.<\/p>\n\u2018US must ensure that Israel fulfills obligations\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n
