Only a few years ago incidents like this could have been safely buried on the back pages. However, with the proliferation of cell phones and the advent of social media that is no longer the case.<\/p>\n

As happened with Henry Nowak recently, word spreads through social media and message boards so the mainstream is no longer in control of the narrative.<\/p>\n

Hence the rising anger over what happened in Belfast earlier this week could soon manifest elsewhere on British streets. Ed.<\/p>\n

Sudanese Man Arrested After Attempted \u201cBeheading\u201d in Belfast<\/strong><\/h1>\n

A Sudanese man has been arrested after an attempted \u201cbeheading\u201d in\u00a0Belfast\u00a0last night that left a man in his 40s with serious injuries in a \u201ccritical\u201d condition. The Mail <\/em>has more<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The graphic scenes of violence unfolded outside an apartment block on Kinnaird Avenue, in the north of the city, at around 10.30pm on Monday.<\/p>\n

Hero bystanders were seen attempting to intervene, with one seen striking the man repeatedly with a hurling stick. Others in footage circulating on social media today wrestled the suspected attacker to the ground.<\/p>\n

A man in his 40s was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his face, neck and back, and is said to be in a \u201ccritical\u201d condition.<\/p>\n

A Sudanese man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have declared the attack a \u201ccritical incident\u201d and are urgently investigating, with both men said to live locally.<\/p>\n

Officers originally said the suspect was believed to be Somali, but later confirmed he is actually from Sudan.<\/p>\n

Nigel Farage\u00a0and\u00a0Kemi Badenoch\u00a0are leading calls for more information about the suspect to be released immediately, with the Reform UK leader saying the public \u201care entitled to the truth\u201d about the \u201cidentity and status of the attacker\u201d.<\/p>\n

The leader of the DUP Gavin Robinson said the stabbing was \u201cbarbaric\u201d and \u201cmedieval\u201d, while X owner Elon Musk responded to a picture of the attack \u2013 which called for \u201cconsequences\u201d for politicians over immigration \u2013 and said: \u201cThat day cannot come soon enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

The horrifying video appears to show a man sitting astride a victim lying on the ground and stabbing him to the head and neck area, as bystanders shout at him to stop. One man can be heard saying: \u201cHe\u2019s trying to cut his head off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several men then approach the attacker and try to intervene, by striking and wrestling him for several seconds before the first officers arrived\u00a0at the scene.<\/p>\n

There has been widespread shock and condemnation of the incident and residents have been praised by police and politicians for their bravery.<\/p>\n

Anti-immigration activists have called for mass protests in Belfast this evening, with fears of widespread disorder as a result.\u00a0Some posts online called for men over 18 to attend, wear dark clothing and \u201cbe prepared to fight or be arrested\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sir Keir Starmer described the attack as \u201csickening\u201d and said he will have \u201cabsolutely no tolerance for abhorrent scenes of violence like this on our streets\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cMy thoughts are first and foremost with\u00a0the victim, and I thank the first responders, including members of the public who intervened.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a tweet Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said: \u201cWhat happened in Belfast last night is horrific. The authorities must reveal the identity and status of the attacker immediately. The public are entitled to the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
