The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) air defense units have detected and successfully shot down an intruding MQ-1 Predator drone belonging to the \u201caggressor US military\u201d, shortly after it encroached upon Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The IRGC Public Relations Department announced in a statement that the multi-mission and long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft was intercepted and destroyed as it entered the Iranian skies in the early hours of Sunday.<\/p>\n

The unmanned aerial vehicle was immediately tracked by IRGC air defense systems and targeted by advanced surface-to-air missiles before it could carry out any act of aggression.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The IRGC also emphasized that Iranian airspace over the country\u2019s territorial waters is under full control of its air defense units, warning that any intrusion will be met with a decisive response.<\/p>\n

The development came a day after the Islamic Republic of Iran Army air defense units managed to intercept and successfully destroy an enemy Orbiter drone in the skies over Qeshm Island.<\/p>\n

The Army\u2019s Public Relations Department announced in a statement on Saturday that the compact and lightweight drone belonging to the \u201caggressor US-Zionist enemy\u201d was detected and shot down by the Army Air Defense Force.<\/p>\n

The statement noted that the unmanned aircraft was brought down by the Iranian Army air defense systems operating within the integrated network of the country\u2019s Joint Air Defense Headquarters.<\/p>\n
