This statement comes amid US President Donald Trump&#8217;s words that &#8220;Iran has been defeated\u2014its naval forces have been destroyed, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.topwar.ru\/armament\/aviation\/\">aviation<\/a>, 90% of launchers <a href=\"https:\/\/en.topwar.ru\/armament\/missiles\/\">missile<\/a> installations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ward said several Republicans, including the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, were &#8220;hinting at a ground military mission.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The head of the aforementioned committee, Mike Rogers, himself makes it clear that the Pentagon has a plan for further military action against Iran, but the American Department of War is not sharing this plan even with the relevant congressional committees.<\/p>\n<p>Rogers:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>We want to get information about what&#8217;s going on and what options are available. But we&#8217;re not getting any informative answers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the WP published an article stating that Trump &#8220;will consider the seizure of the Strait of Hormuz a victory over Iran.&#8221; If this is indeed the case, then the several thousand US Marines and paratroopers being deployed to the Middle East could be used for this purpose. Two US Navy amphibious ships, the USS Tripoli and the USS New Orleans, will arrive in the region tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Based on this, it can be assumed that there will be no long wait, and therefore a ground invasion could begin next Saturday or Sunday \u2013 when Trump&#8217;s previously announced &#8220;five-day ceasefire with no strikes on Iranian power plants&#8221; expires.
