Former CIA Director John Brennan (pictured above) has sharply criticized US President Donald Trump, stating that he is more inclined to believe the Islamic Republic of Iran than he is to believe Trump regarding the status of negotiations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Brennan did not hold back in his assessment of Trump\u2019s recent claims about diplomatic progress with Tehran.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I tend to believe Iran more than I do Donald Trump because he could not acknowledge the truth even when it is slapped in the face with it repeatedly,\u201d Brennan said.<\/p>\n

Brennan characterized Trump\u2019s current posture as desperate, stating that the US president is attempting to reshape the narrative around a policy situation he described as a self-inflicted failure.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear that he is flailing right now,\u201d Brennan said. \u201cHe\u2019s trying to figure out how he\u2019s going to get out of this debacle that he has created.\u201d<\/p>\n

The remarks come amid Trump\u2019s ongoing war of terrorism on Iran for Israel. Brennan slammed Trump for making unfounded assertions about Tehran\u2019s willingness to capitulate to American demands.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to make these claims about negotiations\u2014that the Iranians now are sending signals that they really want to make a deal\u2014and indicates that is going to make a deal on our terms,\u201d Brennan said.<\/p>\n

He dismissed Trump\u2019s characterizations entirely, adding: \u201cI don\u2019t think anything close to the truth in that statement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said on March 24 that he was considering holding talks with Iran to end the ongoing US-Israeli terrorist war which many believe has put him in a very precarious position.<\/p>\n

That comes as he has repeatedly claimed victory since launching the joint aggression with Israel against Iran on February 28.<\/p>\n

Also, in recent days, the American side has courted some regional countries to persuade Iran to cease its retaliatory strikes that have decimated American and Israeli military infrastructure in the region, as well as to allow American vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

A senior political-security official told Press TV on Wednesday that Iran responded negatively to an American proposal aimed at ending the ongoing imposed war, insisting that it will only occur on Tehran’s own terms and timeline.<\/p>\n

The official said Iran will not allow Trump to dictate the timing of the war’s end.<\/p>\n
