On Monday, the Mossad<\/a> used its Twitter account in Farsi to encourage Iranians to protest against the Iranian regime<\/a>, telling them that it will join them during the demonstrations.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo out together into the streets. The time has come,\u201d the Mossad wrote.<\/p>\n

It continued, \u201cWe are with you. Not only from a distance and verbally. We are with you in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement was a rare open acknowledgment from the Mossad regarding ongoing operations in Iran.<\/p>\n

In June, the Mossad had hundreds of agents involved in Israel\u2019s 12-day war<\/a>, which set back Iran\u2019s nuclear program, ballistic missiles program, air defense systems, and killed dozens of its top military and intelligence officials.<\/p>\n

Following the war, Mossad Director David Barnea<\/a> released a rare statement foreshadowing the spy agency\u2019s activities in Tehran, telling the general public that Israel \u201cwill [continue to] be there, like we have been there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Twitter statements were issued as Iran protests spiked over the collapse of Iran\u2019s Rial currency and a rise in fuel prices, as well as recent crises regarding the supply of water nationwide.<\/p>\n

It was unclear if the Mossad was revealing more of its hand because it truly believed that it could help the current protests topple the regime, or if the statements are part of a broader and longer-term psychological warfare.<\/p>\n
