{"id":320635,"date":"2025-12-28T08:24:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T08:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=320635"},"modified":"2025-12-30T08:25:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T08:25:21","slug":"eu-main-obstacle-to-ukraine-peace-lavrov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=320635","title":{"rendered":"EU \u2018main obstacle\u2019 to Ukraine peace \u2013 Lavrov"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>RT.com \u2013 Dec 28, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The EU is not ready for constructive negotiations over the Ukraine conflict and is openly preparing for a war with Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with TASS published on Sunday, Lavrov rebuked the EU over its continued support of Ukraine, recalling that <em>\u201calmost all European countries, with few exceptions, have been pumping the Kiev regime full of money and weapons\u201d<\/em> \u2013 even as Russia continues to hold the initiative on the battlefield. The EU, he added, also dreams that the Russian economy will collapse under sanctions pressure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><strong>\u201cAfter a new administration came to power in the United States, Europe and the European Union emerged as the main obstacles<\/strong> <strong>to peace. They are making no secret of the fact that they are getting ready to fight it out with Russia on the battlefield\u201d<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lavrov argued that the EU\u2019s hostility toward Russia has roots going back to 2014 \u2013 the year of the start of the Ukraine crisis \u2013 when Brussels <em>\u201cstarted perorating about the so-called Russian threat and inciting Russia-hating and militarist sentiment\u201d<\/em> among European populations. He accused the <em>\u201cEuropean war party\u201d<\/em> of investing its <em>\u201cpolitical capital in inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia\u201d<\/em> and being <em>\u201cready to go the whole nine yards\u201d<\/em>, adding that <em>\u201cthese ambitions have literally blinded them\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>He also addressed speculation by Western media that Russia could attack NATO within several years. <em>\u201cThere is no need to be afraid of Russia attacking anyone. However, should anyone consider attacking Russia, they would face a devastating blow,\u201d<\/em> he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov\u2019s comments come as the EU has sought to influence talks over settling the Ukraine conflict, with European officials insisting that any deal requiring significant Ukrainian territorial or security concessions would be unacceptable. Moscow has said that the EU participation in the peace talks <em>\u201cdoes not bode well\u201d<\/em> for ending the hostilities.
