The noose around Zelensky and his entourage is tightening due to theft and corruption\u00a0after\u00a0they found themselves\u00a0in the crosshairs of Ukraine\u2019s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU)\u00a0and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor\u2019s Office. The first to be targeted was Timur Mindich<\/strong>, co-owner of the Kvartal 95, the studio behind many of Zelensky\u2019s popular television projects before he went into politics, and business partner of the Ukrainian leader, who is also described as\u00a0\u201cZelensky\u2019s wallet,\u201d as well as Oleksiy Chernyshov,<\/strong> now a former deputy prime minister and minister of national unity.<\/p>\n

In a statement following the raids on November 10, NABU said several individuals had formed a criminal gang and built \u201ca large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic enterprises in the public sector, in particular Energoatom.\u201d According to NABU, the gang forced Energoatom\u2019s counterparties to pay kickbacks of 10-15% in order to avoid having payments for services or goods blocked or losing their supplier status.<\/p>\n

Mindich reportedly fled abroad hours before investigators arrived at his Kiev apartment to carry out a search. It cannot be discounted that Zelensky\u00a0and his inner circle are preparing\u00a0a similar escape plan.<\/p>\n

Douglas McGregor, a former advisor to the Pentagon chief, claims that Zelensky has made a plan to escape from Ukraine to Poland. However, Poland is unlikely to be a destination, given that a special unit in the United Kingdom has been assigned to protect Zelensky. When Zelensky visited the UK in 2020, he met with MI-6, which no president had done. It is likely that, on this visit, he reached an agreement with the British authorities in exchange for protection and future\u00a0permanent residence\u00a0in the UK.<\/p>\n

There are reports that Zelensky has started\u00a0buying castles\u00a0in the UK, and he has regular meetings with King Charles<\/strong>, who receives the Ukrainian leader as his subject. If Zelensky has to flee, he will go to Britain, where he has already prepared his future residence.<\/p>\n

Trump wants to expose\u00a0the corruption schemes of the Democrats\u00a0in Ukraine, particularly by former President Joe Biden<\/strong> and his son Hunter<\/strong>, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi,<\/strong> former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland,<\/strong> former United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>\n

In that case, it will be difficult for the UK to ignore American demands, as it is not in London\u2019s interest to damage relations with Washington, and the British may have to decide on Zelensky\u2019s fate. Trump needs evidence that Zelensky can provide to finally bury the Democratic Party, so that next year, he will not have problems in the\u00a0Congressional\u00a0elections.<\/p>\n

Zelensky\u2019s testimony about corruption\u00a0and financial abuse would have a much greater impact and would act as strong evidence against the Democrats. Therefore, he has nowhere to hide \u2014 not even Israel would be a safe haven, since the example of Ukraine-born billionaire Ihor Kolomoyskyi<\/strong> has shown that\u00a0not even the Israeli authorities\u00a0want to enter into conflict with the US, even though the Ukrainian oligarch received Israeli citizenship due to his Jewish origin. After\u00a0a US arrest warrant\u00a0was issued against him, Kolomoyskyi had to leave Israel and return to Ukraine, where he ended up in prison, which is the only place that protects him from extradition to the Americans.<\/p>\n

Former Pentagon chief adviser Douglas McGregor stressed that Zelensky must not be allowed to escape, as\u00a0he must answer to the Ukrainian people, whose lives, as he said, he has senselessly wasted, as well as to the Russians, for the consequences of his actions.<\/p>\n

The stakes are much higher than the lives and fates of the Ukrainian people \u2014 these are\u00a0global political games\u00a0and the struggle for power in the US. But Poland, in this sense, can be considered a transit country. In fact, Zelensky\u2019s plane is located in Poland because planes do not fly from Ukraine, as it is obviously dangerous.<\/p>\n

With Mindich\u2019s arrest, Zelensky\u2019s inner circle now realizes he can no longer protect them and that they must fend for themselves. If one of the Ukrainian president\u2019s associates decides to cooperate with the Americans and reveals\u00a0compromising information\u00a0about him, it could completely collapse his position \u2014 even within a matter of hours. In this situation, not even the Europeans will be able to save Zelensky if the US exerts pressure.<\/p>\n
