Financial and technology writer Shanaka Perera posted a Substack<\/a><\/strong> that says the European Union is fast-tracking the most comprehensive reconstruction of its monetary system since the euro\u2019s introduction in 1999. The plan is to have it in place and fully operational by 2027. The old deadline for the Great Reset of 2030 is no longer good enough. They\u2019ve moved it up.<\/p>\n

He writes:<\/p>\n

\u201cBy 2027, a regulatory trinity, cash transaction caps, mandatory cryptocurrency surveillance, and a digital euro prototype, will fundamentally alter how 340 million citizens interact with money. The stated objective is combating an estimated 700 billion euros in annual money laundering. The unstated consequence may be the de facto elimination of financial privacy in the world\u2019s second-largest economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perera gives a comprehensive breakdown of the European plan to replace cash with digital, programmable money. I wish he would have gone further and talked about more than just Europe. This issue of digitization is so much bigger than Europe.<\/p>\n

While the timetables may differ slightly, depending on the country, this is a transformation that\u2019s taking place, not just in Europe, but globally.<\/p>\n

Canada is going down the same route. (See Nov. 10 Slay News report<\/a><\/strong> that Canada\u2019s federal government is quietly moving forward with a national digital ID system, slipping the plan into the depths of its 2025 budget where almost no one would notice.)<\/p>\n

Donald Trump has openly stated that the U.S. monetary system is overdue for a technological \u201cupgrade.\u201d Trump says the current system of money, based on coinage, paper fiat currency and paper checks, i.e. cash, is \u201cdecades out of date.\u201d Watch below<\/em>:<\/p>\n
