{"id":316293,"date":"2025-10-05T07:16:45","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T07:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=316293"},"modified":"2025-10-07T06:20:23","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T06:20:23","slug":"trust-in-us-media-at-historic-low-gallup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=316293","title":{"rendered":"Trust in US media at historic low \u2013 Gallup"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>RT.com \u2013 Oct 3, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Americans\u2019 confidence in the mass media has sunk to a record low, with fewer than three in ten now trusting news outlets to report fairly, according to a new Gallup poll.<\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted in September of 1,000 adults showed that only 28% expressed a <em>\u201cgreat deal\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cfair amount\u201d<\/em> of trust in newspapers, television and radio, down from 31% last year, 40% five years ago, and almost 70% in the 1970s. Meanwhile, 36% reported <em>\u201cnot very much\u201d<\/em> confidence and 34% said they had <em>\u201cnone at all.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, confidence among Republicans has collapsed into single digits, with only 8% saying they trust the media. However, 51% of Democrats believed media reporting.<\/p>\n<p>US President Donald Trump\u2019s rocky relationship with the press has reportedly fueled these splits. A Harvard Kennedy School study found that Trump\u2019s first 100 days in office drew overwhelmingly negative coverage, while the Media Research Center recently estimated that more than 90% of evening newscast stories about him on ABC, NBC, and CBS were unfavorable.<\/p>\n<p>On the 100th day of his second term this year, Trump\u2019s administration issued a press release titled <em>\u201c100 Days of Hoaxes,\u201d<\/em> accusing major outlets of spreading <em>\u201ca nonstop deluge of hoaxes and lies\u201d<\/em> and listed 48 reports it deemed false.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond partisan politics, structural shifts are also eroding traditional media.
