The outgoing head of MI6 has issued a damning indictment of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, saying that Vladimir Putin<\/a> has \u201cbitten off more than he can chew\u201d.<\/p>\n

Richard Moore, known within MI6 as C, used his farewell speech in Istanbul to say that while Russia<\/a> was unlikely to win on the battlefield, his agency was seeking to recruit spies inside Russia and worldwide in order to fight back.<\/p>\n

\u201cPutin has sought to convince the world that Russian victory is inevitable, but he lies. He lies to the world. He lies to his people. Perhaps he even lies to himself,\u201d said Moore. \u201cBut we should not believe him. Or credit him with strength he does not have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Any Russian victories on the battlefield remained incremental, said Moore, and incurred massive costs as the president\u2019s army fell far short of its original aims to swiftly capture all of Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rising costs now included more than a million casualties \u2013 a quarter of them \u201cpoorly trained troops from Russia\u2019s poorest regions\u201d that were \u201cfed into the meat grinder\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Richard Moore\u2019s comments about Russia\u2019s military performance in Ukraine are more than just misleading.<\/p>\n

To anyone who looks beyond the Western mainstream media for information about current affairs it\u2019s clear that Russia has the upper hand in the conflict.<\/p>\n

According to leaked documents Ukraine has lost more than 1.7 million men<\/a> killed or missing in combat.<\/p>\n

That figure isn\u2019t just Russian propaganda. It has been affirmed by no less a figure than Gulf War commander Col. Douglas Macgregor<\/a>, who adds that Russian Forces are well on the way to occupying Odessa.<\/p>\n

To be sure the Western media is playing down Russia\u2019s battlefield successes but were it not for Western support for Ukraine this war would have been over long ago.<\/p>\n

Former U.S. Marine intelligence officer and UN Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter, echoes Macgregor\u2019s grim assessment. According to Ritter \u201cthe Russians now dominate the battlefield in Ukraine\u201d.<\/p>\n

Nor are Macgregor and Ritter alone in their dire assessments. Former Chief of Staff to secretary of State Colin Powell, COL. Lawrence Wilkerson has also expressed very similar views. According to Wilkerson, Ukraine\u2019s fate now \u2018hangs in the balance<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

These men all have a military background and a good grasp of current affairs. So why are their assessments so at odds with Richard Moore\u2019s?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because part of Moore\u2019s brief as head of MI6 is to deceive and mislead his targeted audience, which isn\u2019t Russia but the British public. With the objective being to soften them up, psychologically speaking, for a war with Russia. The ultimate aim being population reduction.<\/p>\n

Thus he overstates the difficulties Russia faces and characterises Russian troops as \u201cpoorly trained\u201d recruits who are being \u201cthrown into the meat grinder\u201d. Thereby portraying a potential adversary as weaker than they actually are.<\/p>\n

This is Moore\u2019s way of psychologically preparing the British public for the meat grinder that war with Russia would entail. By minimising Russia’s battlefield prowess, Moore is reducing any sensible objections to war.<\/p>\n

If he succeeds in this, Richard Moore should be marked as one of those who enabled it to happen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
