Nineteen percent of these crimes were committed by North Africans.<\/p>\n<p>The foreign population in France is equivalent to 5.2 million people, or 7.7 percent of the total population. Of this number, 44.4 percent are from Africa.<\/p>\n<p>These statistics do not break down information based on race or ethnicity, as France does not track such information. France also does not track the migration background of French citizens. Seven out of 10 Paris women say they have been victims of sexual violence on public transport.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of sexual assault, women are the victims in 91 percent of all cases, according to the survey from the Ministerial Statistical Service for Internal Security (SSMSI). An incredible 44 percent of the victims were in the Paris region, which is located in \u00cele-de-France, as reported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/actualite-france\/violences-sexuelles-le-nombre-de-victimes-dans-les-transports-en-hausse-de-86-en-pres-de-10-ans-20250310\">Le Figaro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Similar data is seen in Germany,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/article\/germany-foreigners-commit-59-of-all-sexual-crimes-in-trains-and-train-stations-sexual-crimes-double-since-2019\/\">where 59 percent of all sexual assaults on German trains are attributed to foreigners<\/a>, with sexual crimes doubling since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also shows that seven out of 10 women who live in the \u00cele-de-France region have already been victims of sexual violence during their lifetime.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"xEjG5LuIvK\"><p><a percent of women said they were scared to ride public transport in the Ile-de-France (Paris) rail network, while 80 percent admitted to being on alert, according to the study.<\/p>\n<p>As Remix News has reported numerous times in the past, women are routinely sexually harassed on European rail networks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that a woman or girl changes her timetable or her journeys for fear of being attacked should make us question the freedom of access of all citizens to the public transport service,\u201d said Maracineanu.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Foreign crime a major issue in France<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>France has long struggled with the overrepresentation of foreigners in its crime statistics.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the French interior ministry announced that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/article\/48-of-criminal-acts-in-paris-are-committed-by-foreigners-55-in-marseille-says-frances-interior-minister\/\">48 percent<\/a>\u00a0of all crimes in Paris were committed by foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>As Remix News\u00a0<a for top French newspaper\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/politique\/immigration-les-francais-soutiennent-largement-les-propositions-formulees-par-lr-20230524\">Le Figaro<\/a>\u00a0shows that nearly three out of four French people believe there are too many migrants in the country, with the poll results coming after the country accepted a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/article\/france-welcomed-a-record-600000-people-last-year-warns-french-mayor-while-calling-for-more-restrictions\/\">record number of foreigners in 2022<\/a>\u00a0under
