{"id":313206,"date":"2025-08-06T06:57:03","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T06:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=313206"},"modified":"2025-08-08T06:51:40","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T06:51:40","slug":"we-are-on-the-precipice-of-defeat-former-idf-chiefs-of-staff-intel-chiefs-demand-end-to-gaza-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=313206","title":{"rendered":"\u2018We are on the precipice of defeat\u2019: Former IDF chiefs of staff, intel chiefs demand end to Gaza war"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Times of Israel \u2013 Aug 4, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>More than a dozen former senior security officials put out a joint video with a call to end the war in Gaza, arguing that Israel has racked up more losses than victories, and that the fighting has dragged on for political reasons rather than being based on strategic military decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Among the 19 retired IDF chiefs of staff, intelligence chiefs, Shin Bet and Mossad directors and police commissioners are former IDF chief of staff and prime minister Ehud Barak, former chiefs of staff Moshe Ya\u2019alon and Dan Halutz, and ex-Shin Bet director Yoram Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach of these people sat in cabinet meetings, operated in the inner circles, attended all the most sensitive decision-making processes, the most delicate,\u201d says a voiceover at the start of the video by way of introduction. \u201cTogether, they have more than a thousand years\u2019 experience in national security and diplomacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the video, the men argue that the fighting in Gaza could have ended long ago, and demand that Israel end the war with a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive hostage deal that will see the release of all 50 remaining hostages in one fell swoop.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\uf4a5Israeli Security Chiefs Through the Decades \u201cEnd the war and bring the hostages home!\u201d \uf1ee\uf1f1\uf1ee\uf1f1<\/p>\n<p>This is an extraordinary call, unlike anything we&#8217;ve seen in Israel. It was a defensive war. But once we achieved all its military objectives, once we achieved a brilliant military victory against all our enemies, this war stopped being a just war. It is leading the State of Israel to the loss of its security and identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former military intelligence chief Amos Malka posits that Israel is \u201cwell over a year past the point where we could have ended the war with a sufficient operational achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead, supplies ex-Shin Bet director Nadav Argaman, \u201cwe are now mostly offsetting losses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are on the precipice of defeat,\u201d concurs former Mossad director Tamir Pardo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the world sees today is of our own creation,\u201d he says of the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, brought about by long months of war with Hamas. \u201cWe are hiding behind a lie that we wrought. This lie was sold to the Israeli public, and the world has long since understood that it doesn\u2019t reflect the real picture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are moments that represent a black flag in which one must stand firm and say: This far and no further,\u201d Ya\u2019alon declares. \u201cRight now, we have a government that the messianic zealots have pulled in a certain, irrational direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a minority,\u201d agrees Cohen, \u201cbut the problem is that the minority controls the policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He says that anyone who believes Israel can \u201creach every terrorist and every pit and every weapon, and at the same time bring our hostages home,\u201d is entertaining a fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>The security officials call for those currently in the offices they once held to take a stance against the continuation of the war.<\/p>\n<p>They must \u201cbravely stand up before the prime minister and before the cabinet and say their piece\u2026 about this war and its futility,\u201d says Argaman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is their duty to say what they can do and what cannot be done, even if someone really wants it,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/liveblog_entry\/we-are-on-the-precipice-of-defeat-former-idf-chiefs-of-staff-intel-chiefs-demand-end-to-gaza-war\/\">Source\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The call comes from more than a dozen former commanders in Israel\u2019s military\/intelligence establishment.
