{"id":313064,"date":"2025-08-03T06:50:27","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T06:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=313064"},"modified":"2025-08-04T06:59:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T06:59:06","slug":"german-military-recruitment-up-28-compared-to-last-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=313064","title":{"rendered":"German military recruitment up 28% compared to last year"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>dpa international \u2013 July 31, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Interest in the German Armed Forces as an employer is on the rise, with a 28% increase in military recruitment so far this year compared to the same period in 2024, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>As of July 21, around 13,750 new recruits had been hired in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>There are various pathways to working for the Bundeswehr, Germany&#8217;s military.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said the growth applies to service members on fixed-term contracts and those enrolled in voluntary military service, which is usually for young people just out of school.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the Bundeswehr currently counts about 183,100 men and women in uniform, marking an increase of about 2,000 people compared to a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The number of young people doing voluntary service has also risen by around 15%, reaching 11,350.<\/p>\n<p>The Defence Ministry attributes the uptick to targeted recruitment campaigns and heightened concerns over international security. The government sees the rising numbers as a positive sign, especially amid efforts to bolster troop strength.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of August, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz&#8217;s Cabinet is expected to vote on a draft law aimed at overhauling military service.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the new system could take effect in early 2026.
