{"id":311898,"date":"2025-07-11T05:50:17","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T05:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=311898"},"modified":"2025-07-13T08:09:51","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T08:09:51","slug":"israeli-officials-think-trump-could-give-them-green-light-to-attack-iran-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=311898","title":{"rendered":"Israeli officials think Trump could give them green light to attack Iran again"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Barak Ravid \u2013 Axios July 7, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Israel is preparing for the possibility of further military action if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/world\/iran\">Iran<\/a> tries to revive its nuclear program, and Israeli officials think President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/politics-policy\/donald-trump\">Trump<\/a> could green light renewed Israeli attacks, two sources with knowledge tell Axios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoom in: <\/strong>The path forward on the Iranian nuclear crisis will be a primary topic when Trump and Israeli Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/06\/29\/trump-netanyahu-trial-israel-iran-hamas\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> sit down for dinner on Monday evening at the White House.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Israeli officials say Netanyahu wants to reach understandings with Trump about future U.S. nuclear negotiations with Iran, and on possible scenarios that would justify renewed military strikes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Behind the scenes: <\/strong>Netanyahu&#8217;s top adviser, Ron Dermer, told officials in closed briefings that he came away from a recent visit to Washington with the impression that the Trump administration would back new Israeli <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/06\/21\/us-strike-iran-nuclear-israel-trump\">strikes on Iran<\/a> under certain circumstances, the sources say.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One scenario would be an Iranian attempt to remove the highly enriched uranium inside the damaged facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, according to the sources.<\/li>\n<li>Another would be if the Iranians start rebuilding their nuclear program, particularly enrichment facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Dermer met last week with Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff, Israeli officials say. Dermer declined to comment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The other side:<\/strong> Trump said twice since the 12-day war between Israel and Iran ended that the U.S. could attack Iran again in the future if it restores uranium enrichment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>But he has also said he wants to reach a negotiated settlement to avoid any further conflict.<\/li>\n<li>The White House did not respond to a request for comment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>One key issue <\/strong>discussed in Dermer&#8217;s meetings was Iran&#8217;s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which includes 400kg enriched to 60%. Weapons-grade uranium requires about 90% enrichment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Israeli and U.S. officials say the material is currently &#8220;sealed off&#8221; inside the three nuclear sites. The U.S. and Israel assessed that those sites <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/06\/25\/trump-iran-nuclear-intelligence-obliterated\">were significantly damaged<\/a>, but that not all nuclear material or infrastructure was destroyed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in an interview that aired Monday with Tucker Carlson that the nuclear facilities were seriously damaged, but Iran doesn&#8217;t currently have access to them to accurately assess the situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The intrigue: <\/strong>U.S. and Israeli officials say both countries&#8217; intelligence services are monitoring Iranian actions around its nuclear facilities to detect efforts to remove material or restore operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s next: <\/strong>White House envoy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/07\/01\/trump-israel-gaza-ceasefire-hamas-witkoff\">Steve Witkoff<\/a> is planning to meet Iranian Foreign Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/06\/27\/trump-khamenei-iran-sanctions-relief-israel\">Abbas Araghchi<\/a> in Oslo in the coming days to restart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/06\/13\/iran-israel-usa-nuclear-deal-timeline-attack-jcpoa\">nuclear talks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Iranians confirmed such a meeting is in the works but so far no final date has been set.<\/li>\n<li>Dermer told Israeli officials the U.S. remains committed to the principle of zero enrichment on Iranian soil in the nuclear talks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/07\/07\/israel-strike-iran-nuclear-sites-again-trump\">Source\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As with recent strikes on Iran, if Israel strikes again then the U.S. could again get drawn in.
