The Greens, who have been drifting toward the far left for years, are taking a new and alarming step in this tendency to curb freedom of expression, a cornerstone of democratic societies. Les verts qui d\u00e9rivent depuis des ann\u00e9es vers l\u2019extr\u00eame gauche franchissent un nouveau pas inqui\u00e9tant dans cette propension \u00e0 brider la libert\u00e9 d\u2019expression, fondement des\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JOzbq2oJlz\">https:\/\/t.co\/JOzbq2oJlz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marine Le Pen (@MLP_officiel) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MLP_officiel\/status\/1940433613964660909?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 2, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The text put forward by the left cites the case of <a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/crime\/lola-demonstration-triggers-probe-into-far-right-organizers\/\">13-year-old Lola, who was raped and murdered in Paris by an Algerian female migrant with a deportation order in 2022<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/crime\/we-came-to-kill-white-people-9-arrested-for-murder-of-french-teen-in-mass-stabbing-attack\/\">Thomas, who was murdered by a gang of migrants in Cr\u00e9pol in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The authors of the amendment claim that these news stories were then rehashed with \u201cracialist semantics\u201d by politician and leader of the Reconqu\u00eate party in France, \u00c9ric Zemmour, and other allegedly radical right-wing figures.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VilUx9ud32A?si=ZiyrKSTiMby7e7tj\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n&#8212;<\/div>\n<p>The amendment denounces the creation of concepts such as \u201cFrancocide\u201d and \u201csavagery\u201d in relation to these crimes. It also specifically cites the influence of French news outlets like CNews, Valeurs actuelles, and what it claims is the \u201cfascism sphere\u201d of news reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The politicians who launched the amendment denounce that these factual news stories were used for \u201cpolitical gain,\u201d to the detriment of neutral reporting.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">More than 6,000 people turned out for a march through the French town of Romans-sur-Is\u00e8re on Wednesday in memory of Thomas, a 16-year-old boy stabbed to death on Sunday by a group of youths who gatecrashed the winter ball in nearby Cr\u00e9pol and shouted how they &#8220;wanted to kill\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JhaIGBXHuy\">pic.twitter.com\/JhaIGBXHuy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Remix News &amp; Views (@RMXnews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RMXnews\/status\/1727335413314892062?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>They denounce the structuring of a media space close to the far right, accused of exploiting news stories to advance a vision of security and identity.<\/p>\n<p>A number of social media users reacted negatively to the tabled amendment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMove along, there\u2019s nothing to see. They don\u2019t want the French to know what\u2019s happening all over the country, that\u2019s for sure counterproductive for them. In France, <a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/crime\/france-foreigners-commit-69-of-robberies-violent-crimes-and-sexual-assaults-on-public-transport\/\">69 percent of all cases involving violence and sexual crimes on public transport involve foreigners<\/a>. French President Emmanuel Macron is on record himself saying that <a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/france\/france-foreigners-committed-70-of-all-violent-robberies-in-paris-during-first-half-of-2022\/\">half of all crimes in Paris are committed by foreigners<\/a>. In other cities, such as Marseille,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/article\/48-of-criminal-acts-in-paris-are-committed-by-foreigners-55-in-marseille-says-frances-interior-minister\/\">55 percent of all crimes<\/a>\u00a0are committed by foreigners, a rate even higher than Paris, illustrating that it is a countrywide issue. In Paris, foreigners committed <a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/france\/france-foreigners-committed-70-of-all-violent-robberies-in-paris-during-first-half-of-2022\/\">70 percent of all violent robberies<\/a>, according to official data.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\uf1eb\uf1f7 Marseilles. Then, what is it? We know who the savagery comes from,\u201d he said. \u201cWe all know who commits these assaults. We all know who ran over the police officer Melanie. We all know who killed the bus driver in Bayonne. We know who breaks everything at amusement parks. We know who spoils the beaches of Marseille. We know who is forbidden in a swimming pool in Switzerland. We know all that. We know who it is: 99.9 percent are the children of North African and African immigrants,\u201d said Zemmour, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rairfoundation.com\/frances-eric-zemmour-on-migrant-crisis-we-know-who-the-savagery-comes-from-despite-media-cover-up\/\">the RAIR Foundation<\/a>, which translated his remarks on the Face \u00e0 l\u2019Info program.<\/p>\n<p>Zemmour, an Algerian-born French Jew who previously worked for Le Figaro, was referencing crimes against French people by migrants or citizens of migrant descent, including\u00a0Philippe Monguillot, a bus driver who was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/bus-driver-beaten-to-death-passengers-face-masks-france\/\">beaten to death by a group of young migrants<\/a>\u00a0after he asked them to wear their masks when they got on his bus without tickets.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"Rynv5rKUuh\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/france\/self-defense-a-crime-french-activists-face-up-to-5-years-in-prison-for-protesting-outside-house-of-migrant-accused-of-raping-29-year-old-megane-until-she-entered-a-coma\/\">French activists face up to 5 years in prison for protesting outside house of migrant accused of brutal rape of 29-year-old M\u00e9gane<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition, he mentioned the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/actualite-france\/qui-etait-melanie-lemee-la-gendarme-de-25-ans-decedee-lors-d-un-controle-20200706\">case of officer M\u00e9lanie Lem\u00e9e<\/a>, who was deliberately hit and killed by an African male on a motorbike who was trying to escape a police checkpoint. In perhaps one of the most high-profile murders this summer, 23-year-old\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rmx.news\/rmx\/article\/article\/outrage-in-france-after-23-year-old-axelle-dorier-killed-by-youcef-t-and-mohamed-y-in-brutal-hit-and-run\">Axelle Dorier was killed in a brutal hit-and-run<\/a>\u00a0by Youcef T., who dragged her with his vehicle for nearly a kilometer and then left her to die.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the cases of Thomas and Lola are just two cases in a sea of such cases.
