Introduction \u2013 June 20, 2025<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Tulsi Gabbard was one of the few in the Trump administration who had anything sensible to say on Iran and that put her at odds with the rest of Trump\u2019s \u2018advisors\u2019.<\/p>\n

As Trump\u2019s National Intelligence Director, Gabbard was privy to all the most sensitive information pertaining to national security. According Gabbard Iran did not have a nuclear weapons program<\/a> and did not plan to restart the program it abandoned in 200<\/a>3.<\/p>\n

That is why she\u2019s been sidelined on the Iran issue, even though she is head of U.S. National Intelligence.<\/p>\n

That means that those who make-up Trump\u2019s inner circle, those who guide and advise him are committed to war with Iran. They just need a pretext and Gabbard would have denied them that pretext.<\/p>\n

To make matters worse, these warmongers don\u2019t just want a limited strike on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities. Heavily influenced by the Zionist Lobby, we believe that they want nothing less than full-on regime change in Iran.<\/p>\n

Gabbard would have constituted an obstacle to such a course of action and that\u2019s why she has been sidelined<\/p>\n

Trump may prevaricate and appear uncommitted on the issue but behind the scenes his closest advisors are urging him to strike while the iron is hot. That means taking advantage of present state of Iran\u2019s air defenses, which Israel claims to have damaged or degraded during its June 13 strikes.<\/p>\n

The trouble is that Iran\u2019s military has made a remarkable speedy recovery after being caught momentarily off-guard on June 13.<\/p>\n

So if and when Trump orders extensive strikes on Iran, as we believe he will, then the U.S. military could be in for some nasty surprises. Ed.<\/p>\n

National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, an outspoken critic of past U.S. military interventions abroad, appears to have fallen out of favor with President Donald Trump as he weighs military action against Iran, according to multiple senior administration officials with knowledge of the matter.<\/p>\n

Gabbard allies insist that, while there is some White House tension, some of the public blowback is overstated, and none interviewed by NBC News expect her to leave the administration as a result of the president\u2019s Iran policy, even if that includes direct U.S. involvement.<\/p>\n

Gabbard\u2019s politically perilous position burst into the open this week when Trump brushed her back over her testimony to Congress in March. At that time, she said the U.S. intelligence community did not believe Iran was building a nuclear weapon \u2014 a comment at odds with Trump\u2019s recent public statement about the threat posed by Iran\u2019s potential nuclear program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care what she said. I think they were very close to having one,\u201d Trump told reporters<\/a> Tuesday on Air Force One.<\/p>\n

A person with knowledge of the matter said the U.S. intelligence community\u2019s view has not changed since Gabbard\u2019s testimony in March.<\/p>\n

But the idea that a president would openly refute his director of national intelligence immediately spurred questions about whether she is now iced out of decision-making on the issue.<\/p>\n

It also reflects a rift<\/a> that is playing out publicly in Trump\u2019s MAGA coalition, with some supporters advocating standing by Israel in whatever military action it takes against Iran and others saying intervention would go against the \u201cAmerica First\u201d philosophy. Trump\u2019s criticism of U.S. involvement in past conflicts \u2014 and his campaign promise to be a \u201cpeacemaker<\/a>\u201d in his second term \u2014 brought in unusual bedfellows, such as Gabbard, who had been a Democratic congresswoman.<\/p>\n
