An Israeli<\/a> screenwriter said he backs \u201cexterminating Gazans\u201d as he compared sending aid to Palestinians<\/a> to \u201cfeeding sharks\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post earlier this week, Gil Kopatz, a screenwriter and actor, wrote: \u201cIf you feed sharks, they end up eating you. If you feed Gazans, they end up eating you.<\/p>\n

“I am in favour of shark extinction and in favour of exterminating Gazans.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded the post with: \u201cReflections on Holocaust Day 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments provoked outrage online and across political circles. Ahmad Tibi, a Palestinian politician with Israeli citizenship, sharply criticised Kopatz.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is how this Jewish individual marks Holocaust Remembrance Day. Gil Kopatch, you are a neo-Nazi degenerate,\u201d Tibi wrote on X.<\/p>\n

In a follow-up post, Kopatz appeared to double down on his remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have even one drop of compassion for Gazans. For Arabs in general, yes. For humans in general, yes. For sharks, no. And not for human animals either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Despite the inflammatory language, Kopatz described himself as a \u201chumane, liberal and moral person\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t treat those who grew up in Gaza and have been fed, since childhood, murderous racist hatred towards my family and my brothers and sisters, as human beings,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to wrap up, it is not genocide, it\u2019s pesticide, and it\u2019s essential to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the start of Israel\u2019s military campaign in Gaza in October 2023, Israeli officials and commentators have faced criticism for using increasingly inflammatory and dehumanising language<\/a> to describe Palestinians in the besieged enclave.<\/p>\n

As the ground invasion began, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referenced the biblical tale of Amalek – a move critics described as a \u201cgenocidal invocation<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant referred to Palestinians in Gaza as \u201chuman animals\u201d as he announced plans to cut electricity, water and food supplies to the territory in the early days of the war.<\/p>\n

Other Israeli ministers have suggested dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza and called for \u201cerasing\u201d the Palestinian enclave \u201cfrom the face of the earth\u201d.<\/p>\n
