That is down from a high of over 11,000 a day under [President Joe] Biden,\u201d Homan <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RealTomHoman\/status\/1891483288398975326\">said<\/a> in a post to X on Monday. \u201cI started as a Border Patrol Agent in 1984 and I don\u2019t remember the numbers ever being that low. President Trump promised a secure border and he is delivering.\u201d<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In the last 24 hours the US Border Patrol has encountered a total of 229 aliens across the entire southwest border. Homan (@RealTomHoman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealTomHoman\/status\/1891483288398975326?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n&#8212;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Journalists, elected officials, and others reacted on X to Homan\u2019s post.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, who has covered the immigration issue over the years, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BillMelugin_\/status\/1891506905375223998\">said<\/a>: \u201c229 across the entire southern border. Just wild. I would have trouble finding any illegal aliens if I went down to the border right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese results are astounding,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1891544351018274925\">said<\/a> Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott. \u201cIt\u2019s great to have a REAL Border Czar and a President who enforces immigration laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first time I was in the RGV, I saw almost 300 illegal immigrants in a few hours in one area,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Julio_Rosas11\/status\/1891501329371017526\">said<\/a> The Blaze correspondent Julio Rosas, referring to the Rio Grande Valley Sector. \u201cThen it jumped to over 500 illegals at one time. There is a lot left to do with border security\/immigration, but these numbers are a huge victory for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor four years, Joe Biden let chaos rule at the border, ignored [GOP governors] who demanded action, and made every excuse under the sun. I\u2019m glad we now have an administration that\u2019s focused on protecting our country,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BrianKempGA\/status\/1891528986108272741\">said<\/a> Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp.<\/p>\n<p>Columnist Brian Karem, who has a history of being critical of Trump, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BrianKarem\/status\/1891542467645714488\">said<\/a>: \u201cMisleading. How many didn\u2019t you encounter? You don\u2019t know. Also if you were understaffed then of course you\u2019d run into fewer. Also, I checked three different Border Patrol stations in Texas alone. All three reported MORE than that number in the last 24 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drastic decrease has as much to do with the tone of the messaging as actual policy. Migrants (rightly) believed they would be rewarded for crossing the border once Biden was elected so they rushed to do it. Now the message is that they will be deported so they aren\u2019t bothering to come. The numbers speak for themselves,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AGHamilton29\/status\/1891495823642398801\">said<\/a> AG Hamilton, a popular conservative commentary account on X. \u201cThis not only limits illegal immigration, saves a lot of taxpayer money, and protects Americans from the impacts of unvetted migration, but also saves a lot of migrants from being taken advantage of by human traffickers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House listed Homan\u2019s announcement in an email highlighting some of Trump\u2019s accomplishments during the first several weeks of his second administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn his first month back in office, President Donald J. Trump has taken extraordinary action to usher in a new Golden Age of America \u2013 through border security, deregulation, government accountability, and leveling the playing field for American workers, to name a few,\u201d the White House said. \u201cThe positive effects of President Trump\u2019s policies continue to be felt across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later on Monday, Homan posted more figures to X, these being focused on detentions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInterior arrests by ICE have increased more than 137% under President Trump,\u201d Homan <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RealTomHoman\/status\/1891592453897191690\">said<\/a>. \u201cArrests of aliens with criminal convictions have doubled under President Trump. The arrests of illegal alien gang members has also doubled. Our streets and neighborhoods are that much safer under President Trump.
