An exploded pager used in the attack against Hezbollah<\/p><\/div>\n

Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> reportedly gave Donald Trump a \u201cgolden pager\u201d during their meeting in Washington DC this week, in an apparent reference to Israel\u2019s deadly attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon last year.<\/p>\n

In photos circulating online<\/a>, the golden pager can be seen mounted on a piece of wood, accompanied by a golden plaque that reads in black lettering: \u201cTo President Donald J. Trump, Our greatest friend and greatest ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.\u201d<\/p>\n

Israeli media reported that the Israeli prime minister, who is wanted by the international criminal court<\/a> for war crimes, also gave the US president a regular pager.<\/p>\n

The gift was reportedly a nod to Israel\u2019s deadly operation<\/a> last September against Hezbollah, during which thousands of<\/a> handheld pager beeper devices and walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah<\/a> detonated simultaneously across Lebanon.<\/p>\n

The explosions killed at least 37 people<\/a>, including children<\/a> as young as nine years old, and left thousands wounded.<\/p>\n

An Israeli official told the Associated Press<\/a> that upon receiving the golden pager from Netanyahu, Trump, responded: \u201cThat was a major operation.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a photo<\/a> shared on Instagram by Yair Netanyahu, Netanyahu\u2019s son, Trump gave Netanyahu a signed photograph of the two of them. Trump wrote on the photo: \u201cTo Bibi, A great leader!\u201d<\/p>\n

Netanyahu met with Trump on Tuesday on a visit which was rapidly overshadowed by Trump\u2019s apparently off-the-cuff suggestion that the US would \u201ctake over\u201d Gaza<\/a> and resettle the Palestinian population elsewhere.<\/p>\n
