The network claimed \u201cAdel Gharbal\u201d was not only left alone for days without food, water, or light but had no clue that Syrian tyrant Bashar Al-Assad\u2019s regime had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2024\/12\/syrian-has-fallen-rebel-leaders-take-damascus-announce\/\">collapsed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ward called the event \u201cone of the most extraordinary moments\u201d she had witnessed in her 20-year career.<\/p>\n<p>Several eagle-eyed viewers, though, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2024\/12\/cnn-video-discovering-prisoner-held-assad-regime-called\/\">noticed<\/a> some unusual features regarding \u201cAdel Gharbal.\u201d Unlike what one would expect from a person who was held in a Syrian hell prison, he not only appears to have no injuries but also looks relatively clean.<\/p>\n<p>He also had no trouble adjusting to the sun, either.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">&#8220;Syria is free.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Extraordinary moment as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/clarissaward?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@clarissaward<\/a> and her team witness a Syrian prisoner freed from a secret prison in Damascus.<\/p>\n<p>Left alone for days without food, water or light, the man was unaware Bashar al-Assad&#8217;s regime had fallen. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZAnGiBlLON\">pic.twitter.com\/ZAnGiBlLON<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CNN International PR (@cnnipr) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cnnipr\/status\/1866986427159830708?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 11, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now, a damning revelation from a local Syrian fact-checking group named Verify-Sy has exposed the shocking truth about who \u201cAdel Gharbal\u201d really is. It turns out the \u2018prisoner\u2019 who CNN helped set free is <a href=\"https:\/\/verify-sy.com\/en\/details\/10562\/Did-CNN-Fabricate-the-Story-of--Freeing-a-Prisoner-from-a-Secret-Jail--\">Salama Mohammad Salama<\/a>, who is better known as Abu Hamza, is a first lieutenant in Syrian Air Force Intelligence responsible for a series of alleged war crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, CNN helped free a notorious war criminal and proceeded to mislead their audience!<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/verify-sy.com\/en\/details\/10562\/Did-CNN-Fabricate-the-Story-of--Freeing-a-Prisoner-from-a-Secret-Jail--\">reported <\/a>by Verify-Sy, here is part of Abu Hamza\u2019s horrifying history:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Abu Hamza reportedly managed several security checkpoints in Homs and was involved in theft, extortion, and coercing residents into becoming informants. According to locals, his recent incarceration\u2014lasting less than a month\u2014was due to a dispute over profit-sharing from extorted funds with a higher-ranking officer. This led to his detention in one of Damascus\u2019s cells, as per neighborhood sources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Despite his seemingly innocent and composed demeanor in the CNN report, Salama has a grim history. He participated in military operations on several fronts in Homs in 2014, killed civilians, and was responsible for detaining and torturing numerous young men in the city without cause or on fabricated charges. Many were targeted simply for refusing to pay bribes, rejecting cooperation, or even for arbitrary reasons like their appearance. These details were corroborated by families of victims and former detainees who spoke with Verify-Sy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">In addition to his violent past, residents testified that Abu Hamza has been attempting to garner sympathy since the fall of the regime, claiming he was \u201cforced\u201d into committing his crimes. The Verify-Sy team also learned that he deactivated his social media accounts and changed his phone number, presumably to erase evidence of his involvement in armed activities and war crimes.<\/p>\n<p>CNN, for their part, is laughably doubling down on their story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one other than the CNN team was aware of our plans to visit the prison building featured in our report that day.
